Two sets of swingarm bushings destroyed
Second try on my 74 GT750 swing arm bushings was almost a success. Used a threaded rod with large washers and pressed them in. This time they went in more than 75% of the way before cracking. Hopefully the 3rd try will be a charm. I am planning on sanding the powder coat off this time as this should make it a little easier to go. //Pat

Re: Two sets of swingarm bushings destroyed
Plastic bushings or bronze? I bought a set of bronze bushings once and they were .010 oversize to the swing arm hole. No way in the world they would ever go. I sold them off on eBay to let it be the next guys problem. Original machinist must have checked them with a ruler.
I was born with nothing and still have most of it left.

Last set of bronze bushes I bought were also way oversized and had to have them turned down so they could be pressed in. Now I just use needle roller bearings instead.

Measure the OD of the new ones before you try to press them in. At least one supplier of bushes makes them too large. Yes you also need to clean out any PC in the bore but that may not be the only issue.

Yes they are the plastic ones from Paul Miller. I am certain its powder coating. Could have saved myself a lot of time had it plugged them off ahead of time. One of the few things that I did not plug up. //Pat
