New to old 2 strokes X6

1st post Just bought a 67 X6 Hustler Scrambler. Supposedly ran last year but..... May have been ridden by squirrels as the empty battery bax was full of pecans. Looks like most of the parts are there but all of the parts need some work. I'm not much of a mechanic but this beast looks pretty simple. Just cleaning it now and seeing what it will need. Cables, tires, battery, seat, etc.

1st off get a service manual for it, factory is best but hard to find, I have a clymer I like for my GT550. Read the book and take your time repairing things, learn your bike. Once you learn how it works, you will find these old bikes pretty simple to keep up. Have fun!

Well I see no picture but the link works to all sorts of pictures, trying to document how it goes together. Worried I'll get it apart and not back together. Going to need to seal the tank, ungoop the oil tank, plug in a battery, etc.

Yep she's got lots of promise, IMO. That's a very rare bird you've got there so treat her with lots of TLC.
Are the baffles in the ends of those pipes ?? Ya gotta have 'em or you'll tear your hair out trying to get her to run right.

I have another set of pipes that have the tips, held on with wire I believe. Just slowly taking parts off, cleaning, waiting for the service manual. Where would one get cables, just custom made? There isn't a hell of a lot to it. I need some fork seals, little nipple the fuel line connects to, ordered a battery and plugs. learning that every parts needs some sort of attention, bolts, washers, oh and I need to get a chain.......

I had one in younger days and she was quick, no modified Hyabusa though. The quick 2 smoker I had was a T500 that had Suzuki factory road race spec pipes and porting Blast off at 6000+ rpm, totally flat before that, and without silencers it was kind of loud, I imagine those noises are still circling the planet.

According to the "tests of the day" both the T20, (X6) and the T500 ran 0-60 in 6 seconds flat! Equally FAST!!!!

Probably not much over 100# but the performance was from the factory roadrace expansion chambers and porting. Sheesh I wish I had that thing now, somewhere I got the factory roadrace specs and had someone fabricate and port away. Fortunately I was probably a bit more lucky than I was stupid and survived my youth.
