John , if there isnt a cast in spot on the side of the block for the water cooled badge one of those could be a 73 K so the bore of the intake could be smaller than the later L and on as the K's still used the smaller 32mm bore slide carbs where the rest used the 40mm CV carbs . I know the different sets used different carb to block rubber connectors .

Thanks Dave, they both have the cast in spot for the decals. And I didn't realige the L was just a very early design.

Yeah , Suzuki went thru 4 style blocks starting with the early J's with the flange type carb mounts as in the one picture then later switched to the round connector . Also then the K (73) had the round connector but with porting much like the J and the blocks still didnt have the water cooled badges on the sides . Then along came the L (74) with the badges , round intakes and CV carbs but still had a mild port timing , many think the L's to be the best all round package . Then came the M,A,B's with the changed port timing for better top end and a bit more HP .

Well, it seems that an experimental reedblock set up I did years ago just might work with a few mods. I was going to do a vinamold mold of the ports, but they have oil pipes, that would make it impossible to remove the mold. So I'm not sure where to go now.......... :?

If Richard wasnt going to use the oil recycle system on that block the oil outlets in the transfers could be removed ?

Good point Dave,

It's Ok top remove the SRIS tubes and the intake brass nozzles if you need to on that block.

I just need to remove the one tube in the center intake, is it a press fit, or how do you remove it?

Thanks!

No way. That would be awesome if it's a possibility. When will you be in a position to release any details of your idea or possible pricing etc?

I'm just working with a wax pattern at this point. I can fit it in the intake port. I still have to complete the prototype and get it cast. Then have to go from there. The biggest hurtle was seeing if I could get it in the port.......

Hey again guys,

I am getting to a point where monitary investment is required with a reed conversion kit. I would have to sell a few kits, not to lose my butt on this. HOw much interest is really out there, or who would be interested?

I will have two kits, one for the stock set-up, and one for 38 mikuni's. They will fit in the intake ports, so no welding, just opening up the intake ports. "Approximate" kit cost will be in the $425.00 range.

Thanks for your input......

Just a couple of questions from a total novice - so please be kind ! :D This mod then replaces the existing rubber carb mounts with three reed housings that take the place of the carb mounts - the the grinding you refer to is to the inside of the intake ? And the pistons need to be modified for it to work correctly - so something like this ?

Thanks !
