Mid-winter frivolity - it's cold, wet and boring down here at the moment.

I'll start it off with a vote for the BMW K1

(Oh, you can't vote for a Suzuki   )

Heartily. But the ugliest motorcycle I ever saw was an Amazonas. It was a two-wheeler, built in Brazil around a VW Beetle engine. It was a production bike, but not for long. Jay Gleason got a whopping 14.5 second quarter mile out of the contraption, if I'm not mistaken. It wasn't fast...

If you stroke it more than twice; you're playing with it.

Too many bikes, too much time, ENOUGH SPACE, FINALLY! Never enough money.........

That's an easy one for me. Honda Dream series. YUK! Should have been named the Honda Nightmare.
Almost as bad was the Japanese copy of the BMW -- the now extinct Marusho.
I was born with nothing and still have most of it left.

The Munch Mammoth was built to such an excess in it's day, that there is a majestic quality to it, that survives to this day. It has been, and always will be at the top of my list of desirable bikes. That machine continued to be built in various forms, but very close to the original in DJ's photo, even with most having the big drum brake. He died about a year ago, and had built about 450 units till then, and had ventured into the modern era with his 280 HP, Cosworth powered monster in 2000. Even at 135 thousand asking price, he couldn't break even, so he pulled the program, and built the mighty Mammoth to his dying day. The rest of you guys must be thinking of something else that is truly ugly. Cheers.

Fred is right. The Munch is so oversized, over designed, over.. everything that it's gone beyond ugly and come back around the other side. It's an amazing piece of design - especially for the time.

Check out the front brake or the magnesium headlamp shell or the rear end which is also cast magnesium. or the drive chain enclosure.

That's a piece of art. OK so it's an acquired taste, but it's still a piece of art.

I'm not sure there are any ugly motorcycles, but some of the "cafe Race" CB350/360 twins with black rims, checkers and 59 stickers are getting pretty close.

You guys are way too polite. That Munch is an unbelieveably aesthetically challenged piece of (VERY solid) iron. If it is a work of art, then it was dreamed up by Salvador Dali :P I've never seen one before but man that is a talking piece alright.

What's not to love about it. Designed at a time when 4 cylinder bikes were basically not an option. He stuffed an NSU TT motor in and then started to make it into a manufactured product rather than a one off special.

The design and engineering is amazing for the time. the castings alone are out of this world. Who among us would have that sort of vision and drive?

Sure it's a bit chubby, but big girls offer more to love - or something like that.

Thanks for the back-up, Richard. You're a scholar and a gentleman, and a discriminating motorcyclist. If I had the price of admission, I would seek one of those beauties out, and convince the owner to part with it. Sadly, that won't be any day soon. Cheers.

That one was only $75,000. The mammoth was quite impressive in person. If I had a whole bunch of money burning a hole in my pocket I could see that sitting in my 10 car fantasy garage.Right next to my wife, Zoe Deschanel.
