GT500A runs

Post by rbond »

To quote a somewhat famous movie; IT'S ALIVE!!!!!! After replacing both exciter coils on the stator, new wiring, new block connectors, and building a new CDI box, Iam extremely happy to report it is running again. I will try some carb. cleaner in the tank to hopefully clear the pilot jets. It at first did not want to run when off the mains on the left cylinder, then seemed to clear somewhat. Oh it sounded great to hear it run, just have to put the CDI circuit in a box and mount it, brave the cold and go riding some. Don't want get myself sick just as I get this going again. Can't wait for warmer weather. :D :D :D :D

Good to hear ! Mine is still a few months away from trying to get it running - but of course the snow will be here for a while yet as well :(

OK, i am going to try some photos, the circuit is hanging by a paperclip only for testing. I will mount it in a black box (naturally) and place it where the tool kit would be. Perfect place for ease of access, etc. since I don't have a tool kit...... So far of the four circuits I assembled, two work fine, I have not yet tested the other two. Phil C in England sent me info to change the diodes to another type, but that will have to wait until later this year. I still am having problems editing his drawing so I can post it properly here for everyone. ImageImageImage

Very nice indeed - I hadn't realised there was so little to the circuit. Looking forward to the components list and schematic ! :D

Wow, now that is ingenuity at work! I reckon there's a good few people would be interested in details of that!

Great stuff and glad it's running.
