I think after this year, I will start focusing on the drag frame. I have already fit an 18 x 7" slick in that frame and will need to relocate the motor mounts anyway as it was built for a GS motor.

Rebuilt Crankshaft
Here is the freshly rebuilt crankshaft from Bill Bune. New seals, modified oil slingers for premix, matched rods...Old seals showed evidence of damage on the ID lip of one of the center seals. Also found an indentation on the lower case that may have allowed a very small amount of transmission oil to get drawn into the center cylinder crank area on the up stroke. Pins were still tight so welding the crankshaft was not done.

Still waiting for the block and heads/ I have gone about as far as I could. I knew I could make progress if I got the upper case so I asked for that back first. I need an 18mm freeze plug for the tach hole and will convert the carbs over to power jets on the advice of a great racer in the UK that knows this GT750 very well.
I used the light weight rotor you gave me last year. Turned it down to 10" and installed on the 18" alloy wheel. Im trying hard to keep the GT look and feel where possible but saving weight becomes far more important.

If you would have been looking over my shoulder a few days ago, you probably would have saved me from snapping a case bolt. I went around systematically torqueing them and when I switched sockets, forgot to lower the wrench for the 6mm bolts on the upper case. I felt it yield and then, snap. Crappola....
There are a few small, odds and ends that I can address while I wait but my biggest concern is the head sealing. Its a new design and I expect to have some issues but if I cant work it out, I'll go back to the stock skimmed head.
...regarding paint, at least one racer refers to my GT as the "great white buffalo" so I better stick with white but thank you for the offer. After seeing how nice yours came out, I am very tempted to take you up on that. As you can tell, Im not big on paint and polish...its hard for me to think about that kind of stuff until I can back it up with a super quick run.

I see that we need a Carbon Fiber tank cover (72-74 style) in white with a big Susuki S left to show the fiber weave all done in a nice coat of clear sitting over a smaller aluminum fuel cell.
Do you have anything under your current tank? I know the coils moved backwards, but what about the radiator filler neck and that silly overflow bottle arrangement? Is that all still there or is nice and clean and empty underneath?
What petcock are you using and what capacity tank do you need? I'm thinking 1/4 mile at 8 MPG is half a gallon. Does that sound about right to you?

Bune said that two of the rods were not like the other...they came from a different time and place so they put the light one in the middle and matched the outer two. They were pretty far out from each other.they really had to remove some metal off the end rods to get them all to match
Nothing under the tank anymore. Steve H is helping me locate a 1 gallon alloy tank to comply with SE rules and we've been picking over some fiberglass tank shells on ebay. I have an early model 750 tank and thought about cutting the bottom out completely and installing the alloy tank underneath but still heavy. Also checked with AerTech (which is where I got the seat) but nothing hit me yet... I use a Pingel 3 way for the petcock and adapted the existing tank to accept it. Just took a little filing to get the Pingel filter to fit up inside. Otherwise, it was an easy install. I thought it was the right way to go using 38's.Do you have anything under your current tank?
