carb soaking

Post by cabz »

Can anyone tell me what is the best thing to soak some gt750 carbs in? I have a lot of crusty deposits on and in them that I have not been able to remove with carb cleaner. someone told me limeaway might work, but I wanted to check with you guys first :D

I've had really good success using white vinegar. I put the parts in and boil/simmer it for a few hours. You'de be amazed at how clean they get and the vinegar won't hurt plastic parts.

Suzukidave had a link to a great cheap soda blaster which looked promising for carb cleaning.

I use limeaway and soak it for 20 min if it's really bad a little longer but don't leave it in to long gets the corrosion off alot better than berrymans then you wash it in water and spray it with carb cleaner comes out nice and clean

Limeaway is good but you have to watch it carefully all the time its soaking. This will also destroy the finish on any plated parts like linkages so you cant let those items get soaked.
Try using a toothbrush on the parts where its stained or caked and wash the part frequently as you go about those areas.
Two strokes, its just that simple.
