got a shock today
as some of you may know that I went to a deaf school in my younger days.
some folks find that hard to believe as I speak and hear(just) normally.
anyway met an old deaf friend and he told me that my ex girl(from the 70's before I met my wife) friend has been dead 15 years. died of cancer.
and I never knew after all this time.
felt a little lump in my throat.
she was deaf and a lovely lass but wasn't for me..
we did consider marriage but I decided no and it broke her heart.
I felt rotten but I had to do it as it wouldn't have worked I was only 23 then and shortly after I met my wife the rest is history.
the same lad said that some other old school friends have passed away to.
you don't realise how vulnerable you are till you hear oh such an such has died etc etc.
life is to short and we take things for granted do we not. john

Some of us do realize, and no longer take life for granted.you don't realise how vulnerable you are till you hear oh such an such has died etc etc.
life is to short and we take things for granted do we not.
Just remember Johnny, experiancing the pain of loss is unavoidable. Excessively suffering the pain of loss is a personal choice.

I'm not greiving. she was out of my heart if you like many moons ago.
some times you dont think those who are about the same age as yourself are poping their clogs at an early age.
life is just starting to pick up again no mortgage debts kids out of the way.
at last we(my wife) can go out,do what ever we please etc etc and then bang its gone.
we spend as much time as we can together.
it is sad in what has happened to you Kevin and I'm sure of all the old members of this forum do feel for you inc myself.

The older I get the more convinced that the above is really the secret of life. No matter what you have or don't have it all boils down to spending time with friends and family. Nothing else really matters too much.johnakay wrote: we spend as much time as we can together.

Sadly, that's why I left home and my wife of 31 years; we didn't have a life "together", and I needed a woman with whom to share my life. I am now happily living with my girlfriend who is more of a partner after 8 months, than "she" was after all those years. A darn expensive lesson.....but maybe worth it.markj wrote:The older I get the more convinced that the above is really the secret of life. If you stroke it more than twice; you're playing with it.

I can mirror those sentiments in all aspects.rngdng wrote: Sadly, that's why I left home and my wife of 31 years; we didn't have a life "together", and I needed a woman with whom to share my life.
