Sorry for the delay in posting but we did not have a computer in Canada and then some of the places we stayed at the computer was old and slow (like my GT)
We could not get on line to the board. They would time out or give me an error page.. Some of the motels were vintage and did not even have one.
Anyway like DJ said we are still in Traverse City and having a good time.. It was very nice to meet DJ and his wonderful wife Cathy.. They made us feel right at home.. Also offered to feed me if I can come by their house..
We had a good cookout and got to sit around and share stories..
Bobbi has posted some more pictures of the ride.. The GT is still doing fine and we have now been over 6300 miles..
Allen...... Will ride for food !!

Yea. And they ain't even home yet.
I've done OK this summer. Put 4,000 plus on Pinky since I bought her from Lane back when snow was in the air. Been a lot of fun, since I took eighteen years off to raise a family that I didn't even own a bike.

We are now in Pikeville Kentucky... We got in a nasty rain storm last night near Ann Arbor Michigan.. We stopped on Imlay Michigan to eat dinner at Terry Davis's house... His Wife Lisa (code name Nancy) made us a Lasagna dinner.. Really good !! He is one the the Michigan crew that rides to the Gap each year (75 Grey GT750) He rides with Russ on the Great white buffalo and Lenny who hole a piston on his GT550 couple years back heading home..
Todays ride was in and out of rain, but nothing real bad.. We are on the downhill ride heading toward Florida now
... I am just trying different side roads to avoid the interstate when possible.. We have covered 6948 miles so far.. I am down to my last quart of CCI, so I guess it is time to go home.. Bobbi will get more of the pictures posted soon..
Allen...... Still out smoking !!

Made it through Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina and now in Georgia.. We went to Deals Gap and Bobbi wanted a shirt.. I told her the only way to get one is ride through the Dragon.. So we did all loaded down.. It was strange for a Friday.. There were hardly any sport bikes there.. Mostly all V twins and one suzuki triple..
Sam thank you for the offer.. We are now at the hotel and Bobbi was tired and already sleeping.. So she will not be posting pictures tonight.. She also made a short video of us riding deals gap, that I will get her to post on the picture site when she can.. I will keep your number so when I am up this way again..
Allen..... Will still ride for food !!
PS... Did you see the video of the two crazies racing the KV75s with no helmets jacket and in short pants !! Rick says, they are his bikes, his track and HIS racing rules..

Well we made it home safely and I am still married
... She is even planning next years ride, but this time on a bike that does not smoke..
We rode just over 7900 miles total in the 22 days we were gone.. It was nice to just go out each day and turn the key and go.. It shows me that these old bikes are still very reliable for everyday riding.. They are also a conversation piece just about every where you stop..
I would like to say it was very nice meeting board members along the way and for the roadside assistance we needed, and thank you for taking us in and feeding me !!
Allen..... Spending my kids inheritance on one gallon of gas at time..

Glad you made it home Allen and the bike did well w/o too many issues or ones unfixable on the road. Appreciate the time you and Bobbi took to post up the photos and take us along.
How many miles are on the Buffalo now? Didn't you do a rebuild not long ago or am I mistaken?

Terry, I rebuilt the engine at 84K miles when the crank seal let go and started sucking tranny oil into the crankcase.. The bike now has 113K miles total..
It does still smoke some and the back of the pipes are oily looking.. It also does use about a quart of CCI every 900 miles... Valve seals or oil rings maybe ??
Allen...... Heavy smoker.... GT brand !!

My guess is the oil seals on the valve stems.
You really should have road down the the road another 51 miles and back that last day. They you could have said you rode over 8,000 miles in a little over three weeks.
Hell of an adventure Allen. Congratulatioins to Bobbie for being there the whole time, and as far as we know, not even trying to strangle you somewhere along the way. As Terry said, thanks for taking us along. So where are you guys going to ride to next year, Hawaii??

Kevin, After we got home we unloaded some of the gear off the bike, and went out for dinner on the bike, so by the time we got home again we did go over 8K miles..
Soon as the bridge to Hawaii is finished I will try that..
I am leaving again on Sept 5th to ride to the Grand Canyon.. This time I will not have a passenger and will be camping along the way.. This ride is one a friend planned about 8 months ago and his wife asked if I would go with him, and they would help with expenses if I do.. They must think I like riding motorcycles
So now the question is, do I ride the GT again or use the Triumph Bonneville???
Allen..... Need more injector oil
