OT -- Beef Jerky
If you guys like beef jerky, this is the place. Are you tired of the wet chewing gum crap you find in the grocery store?.I have ordered here 3 times already and the jerky is perfect. Dried and seasoned to perfection, it's absolutely delicious.
I made my own for many years, but I can actually buy it here for less and the Priority Mail shipping is always free.
If you like hot, try the fiery hot bar -b-q. Several varieties are available with 40% less salt in case you are watching your salt intake. I had a bag of the original flavor with the reduced salt and it was plenty salty enough.
Figures out to just under a dollar an ounce. The more you buy, the more you save. I just ordered 6 pounds and was discounted 32% - costing a little under 93 cents an ounce.
Trust me, this is the place. They even have special pricing for our military.
Try it. You'll like it. I guarantee it.

I like jerky, but have always made my own out of venison. I always have plenty of venison in freezer and my own dehydrator, so all it costs is the spices and Mortons sure-cure. I like the angle of the military discount though. I have sent a couple batches to a friend currently stationed in afganistan and he says it only lasts a day or so once his buddys find out he got a shipment.

I made my own Venison Jerky back Last fall. There is a Company called Penzey's spices. http://www.penzeys.com I used several different flavors of stuff and it turned out very well for my first attempt. The Turkish Seasoning that Penzey's sells really is the best give it a try.

I make my own out of hamburger, I spice it up, run it through a jerky gun (a caulking gun with a flat nozzle), and chuck it in the dehydrator for a few hours. It's cheap, easy and tastes great. I have my own recipe that I've come up with through trial and error, my son and his friends sure go through enough of it.

That sounds like a good way to make it , was it a kit you made or purchased ?skids wrote:I make my own out of hamburger, I spice it up, run it through a jerky gun (a caulking gun with a flat nozzle), and chuck it in the dehydrator for a few hours. It works just like a caulking gun too. The center tube comes off both at the front and the back so you can just throw it in a dishwasher for cleaning. Stick the tube back on the handle, pull the plunger to the rear, fill the tube with the meat mixture, put the front end back on, and work the handle. Petty well made for the price, I have used the same one for several years. Just avoid fat in the meat mixture, it does not dry like lean meat, and will go bad faster.

Like I said above, I usually mix my own spices and stuff. But I've used this company's hillbilly jerky mix with good success, and the local grocery stores carry it here.

In WV there is actually a law that lets you claim roadkill (normally deer) and take it home with you, as long as a LEO documents it was killed with a vehicle and not illegally. And before someone asks, no, that is not how I get the venison I make jerkey out of.
