new helmet

just bought this today. my old helmets are past the sell by date now
and I needed a flip up .here petrol garage need you to take your helmet off before you can get the gas.

I have the older Caberg Justissimo and have been very happy with that one. Top quality and good comfort, a bit mor noise than with a regular helmet so earplugs are recomended...

I just bought a couple of HJC flip-up helmets with an integral flip-up sun visor. I like mine a lot.

colour? silver.
went to the vjmc show at lotherton hall. I tried one on there fits me like a glove. a few others were either to tight or the chin bar was to close to my chin. the guy at the stall was trying to pull a fast one on me ,
these sell in the shops for £120 bollocks £99 more like .ok I'll let you have it for £98.oh yes

looked on ebay got one for £80 inc postage .oh alright then £79.99p.

John, have you really had staff asking you to remove your helmet?

Some of the filling stations round here have notices asking bikers to remove helmets but I ignore 'em ...

once or twice but I rode on to the next garage.
anyway I find a flip up more convenience than a full face one.

I use a HJC flip-up also. It fits my head real well, and the price was right. It was given to me.

Hmmm,

I won't get served in a petrol station with a helmet on anywhere here in the land of Oz.
Not only are there signs to indicate this particular stance, but (I think) it's enshrined in law.
I have no issue with this - imagine being an attendant and having to decide if the dude in front of you is legit or going to rob the joint...

I too have gone the flip-up lid route - cost a few bucks but I can recommend the HJC Symax as a suitable alternative.

The real beauty of this helmet is it looks identical to a non-flip-up helmet when down, unlike BMW's and others offerings.

A little noisier and breezier than normal helmets, but worth it for the convenience.
I reckon I might get another one soon - mine is now five years old and is still going strong, but needs replacement.

Mine is a Shoei Multi-Tech, that I bought because of the great fit, and the quality of the ventilation. On a ride to Alice's Restaurant for lunch, we hit every conceivable kind of weather you can imagine, from wet snow at Libbey MT, to +36 celcius in San Fran (thats 97 F) in late April last year. The helmet was warm, and the visor stayed clear, and the top venting was like air conditioning in the heat. The Kevlar reinforced fiberglas shell saved my life in a mishap last fall in Montana, so I will buy nothing else. The crash helmet still fit great, but Janice wouldn't let me wear it any more, so I had to buy a new one, same again. Worth every penny! Boy, this subject could turn into another oil forum, with the sheer variety of helmets and opinions out there. Cheers.
