New bike

Post by debby »

I bought another one. No basket case this time. It runs and looks good and everything. It's not a Suzuki but it is a two stroke:

It's a 1974 Yamaha TY250 trials bike. It popped up on CL at a very good price. So I snapped it up. It's all original and complete, even including the lights and the little trials speedometer. It needs new tires (they appear to be original too) but runs good and sounds good.

It feels a lot different than my Bultaco though, so it's going to take some getting used to.

Oh Debby. You have a Bultaco?? How bout a few pics? I don't remember all the models but i'm sure there was a Pursang. My grey matter churns up something like a Serpa T also.
Bultacos are certainly rare these days.
I was born with nothing and still have most of it left.

Yes, the Pursang was an mx bike. There were also some Sherpa models. The Sherpa T was the trials bike and there was a Sherpa S which was a "scrambles" model (scramblers predated motocross bikes).

Mine is a Sherpa T Model 49, from about 1970. Here is a photo of it from the AHRMA National at Milliken a couple of months ago:

Mine is the one in the foreground. The bike in the back is also a Model 49 Sherpa T. It belongs to a friend. His bike is a lot shinier than mine and more original looking with the alloy fenders and fiberglass tank, but the tank leaks and it wasn't running very well that day. My bike is better!

DAMMIT DEBBIE, you are killing me! Two of my most-desired bikes are the Sherpa T, and the TY250!!!!!!

CONGRATS anyway!

If you stroke it more than twice; you're playing with it.

Too many bikes, too much time, ENOUGH SPACE, FINALLY! Never enough money.........
