Very nice, hate you have to part with it, .45 ammo is hard to find, from the price tags on some of yours you must have had it a few years. I found a box at home I gave $12.95 for .45's, it was several years old.

I always found the 1911 45 to e a good gun in terms of balance and recoil. i shot a Taurus PT99 9mm for years and it's a good gun. Reliable and reasonably accurate. For some reason I never got on with Ruger though (apart from a 22 long stainless bull barrel which is just a great gun - and so simple).

The Rugers have always been reliable. Built heavy and always go bang with whatever you feed them. But their styling on the other hand, not so smooth.

I carry a Ruger P-85 9mm.I think it's a bit heavy carrying 15 rounds but other than that a fine weapon.

Yeah I bought a Ruger P89 back a couple of Years Ago but carry my Ruger MkI .22 since it's smaller and a Bit lighter.My P89 is way too heavy especially with the 32 rd clip.

For personal carry, you might think about something smaller and lighter such as a 380 with hollow points.

Some years ago, when I lived in TX, I was looking for a small gun and tried out the Walter PPK back to back against the Sig 230 and the Sig was more accurate for me at close range, because the grip angle is slightly different, so it was a better fit for my hand and wrist.

In a two handed aim they were both close, but for quick and nasty single handed, no time to sight, the Sig was a better fit.

I also figured that longer range was largely irrelevant because if I was that far away I should be able to get out of the situation without drawing a weapon. When in doubt, get the f.. out (of there).

I carry a j-frame 5 shot off duty. .38 nyclad hollow points are great rounds for that. It's also very small, concealable and more accurate than you'de expect from a 2" barrel.

I've carry a CZ52. Not pretty, over 50 years old, but built solid as a boat anchor, if you replace the original cast firing pin with an aftermarket steel one. I like it because of instead of a big slow moving bullet, it has a small fast moving one. Ft lbs of energy are about the same as a 357 mag. Single action auto. Built a lot thinner than the 1911s and the Rugers. Sorry Jug, they only make a ten round clip for it.

But if you use it at an open shooting range, stand all the way to the right, or you will hit people with the ejected brass, which is not a good way to start a conversation.

If I want something more concealable I carry a Pheonix HP22A with CCI Stinger hollowpoints. Small, fairly accurate, and purchase price is not sky high. Before we get into the discussion of calibers, even a little gun can be better than no gun at all. I've seen large beef drop in their tracks with a well placed .22.

Love to Have me a CZ52 7.62x25 and a Makarov with the .380 Conversion Barrel.

The Pheonix .22 is a Great little Carry Pistol.Cousin had one and Could Drive tacks with it at 25 Yds.

Slaughtering we usually Use .22 Shorts for Hogs and .22 LR for Beefs.My Uncle Has a Little Single shot Bolt Action Winchester.He swears that it is worn out and will only Shoot a Hog within 5 ft.Last ones we Slaughtered I shot the last 2 from over 50ft with Open sights.Both Flopped out of the Stable where we could hook right to them instead of working 15 minutes Getting them out of the stable.Great little gun.I have seen guys shoot Beefs with .22 LR several times before they would Drop.After a while the Skull gets too thick and they Bounce off.Have shot some before that we had to Drive the Bullet thru the Skull with the Next round.One they just said the Hell with it and got it with a .30-06 at 100 Yards.
