Thanks gentlemen considering my usual luck with bargain basement buys, finally i hope i got a decent one.
Just out of curiousity has anyone ever sold a real "steal of a deal" to a buyer only to see it get trashed in no time.
As luck would have it, it seems i am never around to get one of those, but i am there to get it after its been trashed,,LOL
This time i was AROUND,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Moo is right that they don't actually tell much of a story. What they do tell is that they are showing NO signs of overheating at the revs it was running, but plugs run much cooler at low to mid revs, so that's OK.
The center and side electrodes look fine and if anything suggest that timing is conservative or that the plugs are one step too cool. BUT that doesn't mean they will look like that at WOT.
To read mixture you need to look way down inside the plug where the insulator meets the shell. I have read articles suggesting that different throttle positions can be read at different places on the plug, but I am skeptical.
If it still needs to have needles on richest position, then the nozzles/needle jets are too lean or it needs different needles. if you are reluctant to do a WOT plug chop, go up another couple of sizes on the mains, just to be safe and then read the plugs.
best idea is to strap it to a dyno with a 4 gas analyzer and tune it there. We are lucky here that our local shop 4+6 has lots of jets and we only pay for the ones we take away plus dyno time.

Don't feel bad Rocky. I live in central USA and I have seen only one in real life. A fellow had just finished restoring it. It was a 75 like the one pictured. It was black.
That's a beauty Lucky - I mean Dave! I Love it! One question I have always pondered. What is the actual weight of one of these? They look heavy. Does anyone have that spec?

The large metal flake was sort of a standard thing for some of the bikes from the mid 70s.
Oh thats the charm of the rolodex, you always have plenty of room for more names,,LOL
Its something to turn the key and see the rolodex cover pop up and allow the instruments to be fully seen,,,, retro space age and sooo funny...
Actually i like the quirky look of those parts and the full sperical indicators whose lens and body makes a perfect ball.
The things a time capsule so who can complain with that...

The sound is something else as well! We have a beautiful 75 that rides in our classic group. Sounds a bit like the old WW2 Spitfire fighters. Cattle and sheep head for the hills when they hear the Rotary coming
- it's amazing. It has performed flawlessly for the last two years of rides.
