Nope, Wayne, the bore was still on standard when I sold the bike in 1992.....although it DID go through 2 sets of standard pistons and rings since I bought it new in 1977, not including the factory originals.
The last time I pulled it apart it was on the limit but since I wasn't going to keep it.....
IIRC, those TF versions were only offered in Oz and selected Euro countries. The UK possibly got 'em too but I don't believe they were ever offered in North America.
That is a cool looking set up. Wonder why they were never imported?
I have a 68 YL2C which was a 100cc trail bike that had a single seat with a rack. Fun little bike but it need a bigger motor.
I had a 78 TS185, best dual sport I ever had. My first street legal ride as a new license holder. It just ran and ran. I spent most of my time in the dirt w/ it, 70/30. Road riding was to work and to the g/friends house. Great ride to the strip mine underage bonfire beer parties. (A Pennsylvania/W. Va. thing). Cops had no chance... Chain, sprockets, and rear tire...that was it, beside normal maintainence.
Hey, Lane, Do you have a thread here on the board with build pics or specs on the SYZ? Interested to know about rims, tires, suspension mods. Maybe some pics? Oh yeah, more pics would be nice!
I don't have a lot of pics, really. It's nothing special; GS750 forks on GT550 triple clamp, GS250 front wheel (18"), GT750 rim laced to TS400 rear hub, the seat assembly, and the pipe. Other than those things, it's basically stock.
Thanks for that, Ed. Great bikes, durable as all get out, a little heavy but can slog along with the best of 'em. Great cow-trailer.
I wonder why it doesn't have a 21" front wheel ?? PO mods ??
Rick, Lane, I just checked & it is a 21inch front wheel.
Pete is bringing over a chain, sprokets, clutch cable, & tires tomorrow so we will be able to ride it . - Ed
Hmmm....apparently either I need computering glasses or my monitor/video card is on some kind of perspective rendering "strike" or the camera angle of the pic is strange. That wheel doesn't look much bigger than the rear which is 18", at least to me. Oh well......
