Lane, actually this emblem came out purfect! You cant tell from the picture but the color and metal flake matched the oil tank emblem just right. This darn camera off sets the reds and oranges. they dont look at all like they do in person.

Dofin,
Sounds like you've got a nice setup. If I were you, I'd keep the '72 jugs and put the milled heads on there; the '72 ports, as you probably already know, have better stock porting than the later 500's. Ideally, if you can find the earlier carbs, they would probably work best with your cylinders.
Then you'll have the best of both worlds: a faster stock bike, electronic ignition AND a front disc.
Otherwise, go with larger jets as others have suggested. I'd also recommend going with colder B8HS plugs, just to be safe. Better to start off rich than hole a piston. Speaking from experience here...

72 jugs/shaved heads/72 carbs
Spondon, been keeping up with your gT500 and getin her back on the road! Thanks for the advice. I believe I will follow the advice you guys have given. I do happen to have a set of Carbs jetted for the old T500. My original GT500 cyl. and pistons are really messed up, I dont know how the thing keeps running so good. NOT STRONG! just reliable and rattles like HELL!
When I get time I will do the change up, and combine it with bottom end seal replacement. I really want this old girl to hang around a while. I will post pics and progress reports. thanks again

76' gt500 Gas Cap repair
I want to repair my spare gas cap. I will try for pic soon to clear up what the problem is.
The Cap does not lock completely down. What has happened is, the locking mechanism seats into the Caps notched lock mounting holes. These notches have been ABUSED and allows the locking Mech. to rotate so the cap doesnt seat completely on tank neck. Gas splashes freely out of the tank, NOT a good thing.
Has anyone tried to fix the cap Notches. I know its a LONG shot? I know what most likely need to be done, delicate Brazeing and file to shape. Or Just buy a new one! but?? who likes to throw away a nice looking cap if it can be salvaged Dofin

I'm still in search of a left cylinder jug for a 74-77 GT380. It doesn't have to be perfect because I'll be boring it 1mm oversize. If anyone has one, could they please contact me. In the mean time, I'll be posting pics of the bike just before she died.




Thanks for all the help guys. Unfortunately due to finances (I lost my insurance job, and after 3 weeks just started working at NAPA) I don't think I'll quite get her back on the road before the season's over.
We'll see. I'm desperately trying though!!

Lane, thanks for taking the time. I have a good cap on my fancy new tank but would like to get another working for for my every day tank. Like yoiu said I could use parts make a functional one for my everyday tank.
sorry you could not make the Gap get together. Hope your feeling better? I had a SUPER ride up and back. the GT ran great. Still cant believe how such an abused engine can run so good. Allen was there with his GT750, I didnt catch who had the RD400 (orange). Dofin

T/GT 500 sprockets
Where are you guys getting sprockets for the Titans? I've found that both Afam and JT make 'em, but nobody seems able to get me any except in 41 or 45 tooth rear, and no front. I'm looking for the standard 15/33 setup. BTW, OEM is NLA. Thanks in advance.
