Who said anything about a V-Strom, which is a DL650, not a SV650 anyway. I guess it all depends on your perspective and on what you plan on doing with the bike:
If lots and lots of miles and little maintainence is your thing, then the Buffalo ain't your bike.
If having something that you don't see on every corner every day is your thing, then the VStrom just wouldn't do.

Barry, I am a big fan of the 650 V-Strom, no insult intended. In fact, I may sell my '02 Connie and buy one, BUT regardless of whether you paid 6K or 7K, which is what they go for new around here, in less than 5 years, you got a $3-4K bike at the most if it has any miles on it.
The point I was trying to make, is that this Buffalo, at 8 Grand, is no longer being made and their ain't gonna be any more of 'em, and the value is sure to increase, so maybe 8K for one this nice is not quite as ridiculous as it sounds.
Matters not, it didn't meet reserve anyway.

Yes, the VSTROM, like any new bike, will lose value for the first 15 years, then it will come back, just like the Buffalos are doing. Imagine what the plastic bikes of today will fetch in 30 years. This VFR I bought is already difficult to get plastic parts for, and it's a 91.
I doubt if today's riders will be able to do what we are doing today. The parts just won't be there.

If you look on the guy selling the 74 gt750's website he has some real nice bikes & says he does restorations. The strange thing is he has a picture of one of my bikes on there. If he is using my picture what other bikes on there don't belong to him & who elses pics is he using???

OK, so some of the pics are RB's. That's what I figured, he was using other peoples pics as well. He actually pinched my picture from RB's site. I sent Rick that pic along with a few others a while back. He was interested in the width of the light green stripe on the tank as he has seen it vary by over an inch. Mine was one of the more narrow examples.

I thought that I knew Buffalos. I am humbled, indeed.....1. Dash is wrong - L's have a red high beam light and the gear
indicator window is green not purple.
2. Missing clutch cable boot and clutch lever cover (come on dude,
they're cheap as chips!).
3. No warning stickers at all anywhere... ($35 from reproductiondecals).
4. Discs possibly (the jury is still out) wrong, probably should have
straight edged holes, not curved.
5. Radiator crash bar is wrong - that bar looks like it's off a J/K.
6. Head bolts - should be rounded on top not square.
7. Missing chrome clamp covers on top radiator hose.
8. Front fender stays possibly should be stirrups over the stay, not
bolted from underneath (jury is out on this one as well).
9. Calipers/lines are wrong - should have locating posts on the banjo
fitting at the caliper (as far as I know exclusive to L's).
10. Missing rubber bumpers/caps on top radiator frame bolts.
11. Carbs may be wrong - early L's at least, didn't have individual
vacuum outlets on each carb, although fitting later carbs is a good
idea as far as synching is concerned.
12. Missing brake-line brackets/clamps - in the second pic there
should be a bracket and clamp around the brake-line junction (that's
why they're there!) and brackets behind the fork legs with a rubber
grommet to hold the line in place.
13. Speedo cable is possibly wrong - it's too short and doesn't appear
to be routed through the rubber guide on the front fender and the
guide is missing beside the horn - hang on, there is no horn, or it's
not located where it should be!
14. Missing spring on oil pump lever.
15. Seat is missing chrome trim, and, should have 'GT' below 'Suzuki'
on the rear (not visible, so not confirmed).
(And I have one of those posters, just for that picture of the yellow Buffalo. Next time I see you, Dave, I want you to autograph it, please.)

Triple Ed and I just got off the phone and he asked if I had seen this bike.. I went on to his listing and looked at the bike... Pretty nice bike but... I am going to put my $.02 in...
1.. Small twin stripes on top of tank do not go into the seat... His are too long.
2..Wrong headlight bolts to fork ears..Factory ones are rounded like handlebar clamp bolts..
3..Zip ties for wires on handlebars instead of straps...
4..Big one here!!! The oil pump rod is a "modified" coat hangar !!!
The headbolts are the Suzuki replacement ones... Little different than the original
I hate to be picky but for that money it should be perfect..
