Hey Ralph,

Any chance of some "before" shots?

Yes, I did put an old-fashioned compression release on my TS400.....just because. I really don't use it, but it's one of those "must-haves" for me.

TS250 Wiring

Post by Admin »

Anyone have experience with the wiring on a '73 TS250? I think I've got everything wired up correctly, but the headlight doesn't turn on with the keyswitch (there is no "headlight on/off" switch). I checked through the wiring diagrams that I could find and can't see where battery switched power actually reaches the headlight...seems power comes from the lighting coils. So...is it correct that the lights come on only when the engine is running? If so, what is the point of the battery?

As it sits, the power switch only turns on the neutral light???

Thanks,

Chris

Barry has more experience with the 250 than I, but the wiring diagram I have shows the ignition switch supplying battery voltage to the taillight, instrument lights, and the turn signals. The headlight appears to be powered straight from the alternator.

If the bike is like my TS400, the system voltage will be too high without a battery in place to load it down. There is no regulator.

Thanks for the info, Lane...

So on your wiring diagram, with the ignition switch in the regular run position, battery voltage is supplied to the orange wire and which others? Mine only shows voltage to the orange wire...

Makes sense about the battery...

I see in the parts diagrams that there is an optional resistor you can get...what is its function?

Thanks for the continued help,

Chris

I think it's only to the orange wire, but it appears that that wire feeds the indicators, etc through the light switches. Look at the contacts on the switches in the lower left corner.

I believe the resistor is to help prevent blowing out the headlight bulb.

I don't have my TS250 any more so I can't say what color wires goes where but the headlight only works when the motor runs, not by the battery alone. The brake light and tail light will work on the battery, it will run fine with no battery but you can't see the tail light unless you rev it up. There was a resistor to keep the headlight from blowing out, if it does it will blow every light on the bike.

Where does the resistor go?

This wiring diagram doesn't show one and I'm pretty sure I don't have wiring leads for one:

(The orange and white leads that aren't shown hooked up to anything go to the front brake switch)

TS250 front brake shoes

Post by Admin »

this seems like the right place to ask this question my T200 uses the same front brake shoes as the
TS250-2 1970
TS250 1969
GT185K 1973
does anyone know of a brake shoe source for the TS250? i have the old suzi shoe's in there (the ones that the lining looks like it was made out of particle board ) and i would like to put a more modern material in the front i feel it would help with the braking, my rear brakes are ebc and work great, but the front suck big time!
Ideas anyone?

Questions about a TS185

Post by Admin »

Hello All....

I bought another 2 stroke....:) It is a 1981 TS 185 Suzuki.....only has 4700 miles on it and it is Completely streetable still.....All signals are still intacked

My main question is about fuel....It has a 2.5 gal Tank on it now...1.9 gal main and .6 reserve....
Is there another tank Available for it that will give more capacity..?

My bud and I normally ride our Bikes from home to where ever to play and then back home, And there have been several occasions where we took 1 gal extra cans cause we knew we were going to burn enough miles in the woods that we would need the fuel.....And One time I limped it into the gas station shaking every last drop of gas out of the tank on my Kawi 185.....

This Bike makes Four, 2 strokers in my Stable now...
The 1970 Titan 500
A 1974 Kawasaki 250
A 1976 Kawasaki 185
And now the 1981 Suzuki TS185
and I have a Pristine 1978 Honda trail 90 with 900 original miles on it ...

Talk to you guys soon,
thanks in advance, John

I belive there is a "farming" version of the TS185 with a larger fuel tank, can't remember where I heard about it or what that version is called...

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW !!!!!!!!! Another Oregonian.... My inlaws live in Eugene so it could be possible to hook up sometime when I am up.....

I would guess that the 185 should get about 45 mpg or better as that's what mine has done in the past... if so your range should be over 100 miles... don't know if I could do that many miles on mine without ending up nearly crippled

I haven't seen anything of a larger tank for those... don't know what you can do... good luck... Mike
