I haven't gotten far on the bike yet. But, my leathers showed up yesterday. Woo Hoo!

I got a brand new set of AGV leathers for under $300 shipped to my door. I think I did OK.

Surprisingly enough, they fit pretty good right off the rack. They are a little tight around the mid-section, but that is the way I wanted them. I'm hoping they will be inspiration to lose about 10-15 lbs by race season.

From what I can remember it was the front support along with the forward bottom ones for the tank. Just get rid of it. Are you also going with the rear disc? I am setting one up for Oh No Mr Bill with a GS rear disc.

I gotta tell you. I like what Ralph (Desmocat) did to his. That's a cool-looking bike.

Hey Zook-e,

I plan on getting rid of it but I wanted to make sure I wasn't eliminating some useful bit first.

I was toying with the idea of using the rear disc set-up since it's already there. I need to track down a GS750/1000 wire wheel hub with a disc to lace to my rear rim. Although I also have some five spoke GPZ550 rims that fit within the allowed sizes. If I were to grind off the "Kawasaki" on them and give them a coat of gold paint, I wonder if they would pass for period racing mags?

If I am not mistaken, that is a Yamaha swingarm and caliper. You may have to do some mods to get the GS spoked wheel to work.

Really? Do you think the hub will be too wide or ?? Krash did mention the bike originally had an RD400 rear mag and Lester front mag on it....

Thanks Zooke. Those photos give me some ideas for my scheme. I think I am going to do something similar to this one.

But, it will be in current GSXR colors.

The one I am doing for OH NO MR BILL has a GS550 rear swinger that has the GS pivot removed and a T500 pivot attached.

It's amazing what you can do with a rattle can!!! To paint my bike I took the tank to a media blast shop (plastic beads) that removed all the paint. Then it was just careful layers of primer, then color, sanding between coats. I used Krylon paint.

I plan to do:

Willow Springs
Mid-Ohio
Miller
Sandia

If I can arrange transport to Michigan I'll go Grattan before Mid-Ohio.

I would be great if you could do Grattan as several of us are going to that race next year as our pre Mid_Ohio.

Did you have the swing-arm shortened at the same time or is it about the right length anyway?

I checked the inner width on the Yamaha swing-arm and I have 7.75 inches side to side. I might have to get the sprocket carrier milled down (and possibly the brake disk mount too) but I think a GS750 hub will work. I know I'll have to rework the caliper stay as it's welded directly on the swing-arm!
