I could use some advice. My T500J floods instantly and won't start (it used to start on the first kick or two). Situation:
1. All carb passages and jets have been ultrasonically cleaned and blown out with compressed air.
2. Floats have been checked for leaks and set to 27.3mm from the gasket base.
3. Float seat has been mirror polished and float needle tested for leaks.
4. Plugs cleaned and make a nice blue spark.
5. Both plugs soaked with fuel after 4-5 kicks.
6. Petcock tested for leaks.
7. Tank and petcock fuel strainers clean.
8. New tygon fuel lines and Visu-filter 90 micron inline filters for each carb.
What am I missing? TIA.

Re: T500 floods instantly
Is it fuel or could it possibly be oil?

Make sure the spark plug wires are not switched. Manually operate the left points to get a spark for the left cylinder.
A common mistake. Depending on how the coils are installed, the spark plug wires are, or are not, crossed.
Having worked on it for a while, getting it to fire up the first time will be a PITA. A good run will return it to the normal easy starting.

Re: T500 floods instantly
Now, I am second guessing myself: Which is the left cylinder point? The one on the left of the stator, correct? Thanks.

Yes. Left cylinder when sitting on the bike & left points when looking at the points.
The alternator rotor timing marks have a "L" & "R".

Re: T500 floods instantly
I pressure tested the float valves and found the right needle wouldn't seat correctly, changed it out. The left was good but had a leaky o-ring. Started up after 10 or so kicks. Thanks for the advice!
