72 Suzuki T500J - Carb Bowl Overflow Tubes?
Hello - I am presently working of a 1972 Suzuki 500J and I noticed that the two carb bowls do not have overflow tubes - is this correct for this model T500?

Re: 72 Suzuki T500J - Carb Bowl Overflow Tubes?
Early T500s have internally-vented carbs & later models have float-bowl-vented carbs.
Fuel flow through the jets is driven by the pressure drop between the float bowl & carb venturi. So early & late carbs have very different jetting.
Carb specs for 71-75 models are in service bulletin Specification-6: http://www.ozebook.com/compendium/techb ... %206-9.pdf
73-75 models have the vented float bowls & 97.5 main jets.
71-72 models have internal venting & 150 main jets.

Quick question - so with internal venting, where does the fuel go to when the bowl is full and/or when the float valve is not sealing correctly etc?

Wherever it wants.
It will go like any fluid - following the lowest path it can find. I had the wrong float bowl needles installed in my T500, and ended up needing to drain my crankcase with a unhappy wife complaining about the strong gasoline smell in the garage.
