T500/GT500 carb questions

Post by jabcb »

This is for the T500 cafe build.

Stock GT500 motor with PEI — fully rebuilt. Late model regular-venting carbs stamped 15313.
Have Titan Performance expansion chambers & will use K&N pod filters.

Vapor blasted carbs with new needle jets, 188 P-4. Ordering new jet needles, 5FP17. (both stock sizes)
Stock jets: 97.5 main & 30 pilot.

I found these posts by Titan Performance:

On my 75 T500, I use 115 main...35 pilot, and needle middle notch. The bike runs pretty good everywhere. WOT must be rich enough as I have thrashed it very hard with no ill effect. I'm using pod filters.....

What is the difference between early/short & later/longer inlet manifolds? Does it make a difference?

Needle middle notch is stock.
Based on my prior results, I was thinking of using 107.5 main & 32.5 pilot (up 10 & 2.5, respectively). But that prior experience is with smaller carbs.
Is 115 main & 35 pilot recommended?

Hi Jab....since that post I've adjusted my settings a little. I'm still using 115/35, but I've leaned the needle by one notch. It works great for me....pulls good and clean right through the range.
