Gt250 calliper
I’m looking to upgrade the calliper on my Gt250k.....I’m sure I read on a previous thread that GS1000 ones are a straightforward fit? If so and to keep things simple would a left hand one fit in the forward position on the right side? Hope that all makes sense....any advice or alternative solutions would be much appreciated!

Re: Gt250 calliper
or swap the forks, so the caliper goes at the back instead of the front? tbh, the gs1000 brake [yes it does fit] isn't any better than the gt calipers. if you want an improvement, why not fit twin discs? easy done.
cheers, dd.

Re: Gt250 calliper
A good easy upgrade is the salty_monk twin-piston upgrade we did on our GT250K cafe build.
Salty_monk is a Suzuki GS forum member that designed an adapter bracket to mount twin-piston calipers.
He sells the adapter bracket via their forum: https://www.thegsresources.com
Topic for our GT250K cafe build: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=12998&start=17
We used the stock fork tubes swapped to place the caliper behind the fork tube, the salty_monk kit, a Kawasaki Concours caliper & an EBC disk for the GT750.

Re: Gt250 calliper
Some years ago I went to view a very sorry looking 250, that had the 'conversion' that ended up with one caliper fore and one aft of the fork legs - it looked quirky to say the least. I remember it was a very hot day and I drove to somewhere in surrey (?) then up a farm track to one of those Mad Max style storage places in a borrowed pick-up thinking I'd have it away. BUT it was a real mess and I wasn't really up for a project, I remember the guy wanted 350 quid which was an outrage at the time although small beer today..dollydog wrote:or swap the forks, so the caliper goes at the back instead of the front? tbh, the gs1000 brake [yes it does fit] isn't any better than the gt calipers. if you want an improvement, why not fit twin discs? easy done.![]()

Re: Gt250 calliper
yes, unfortunately the calipers are 'handed'. there's a left one and a right one. however, there is a way to convert a right side [very common] to a left hander. it's a bit of a faff about, but it works ok. i know, because 2 of my bikes with twin discs have them on. the 2 pot caliper would be a good option, as i said the gs caliper is no better than the gt

Re: Gt250 calliper
Thanks for your reply’s chaps....much appreciated. Been tying to track down the ‘salty dog’ via the gs forum but as yet not been able to find or get in touch. Does anyone know what or should I say from what twin piston calliper is best to use on the left side? Cheers

Here is salty_monk’s forum topic:
https://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/s ... unk/page91
Apparently he now has two types of adapters for use with different twin-piston calipers. I have the older version. This topic lists the disks & calipers that you can use.
Join the forum & PM him. Tell him you have a GT250 & are interested in the twinpot brake upgrade.
The stock GT250 uses the smaller OD GT/GS rotor. With the upgrade, you will need to use the larger OD GT/GS rotor.
I used a new EBC rotor for the GT750. He has a list of rotors for other bikes that will also work.
