GT550 Finished!

All done! Runs great just wanted to thank everyone for all the great information and support! Completely rebuilt the engine Powerdyno alternator and Newtronics ignition, new coils, Wisco 1 over pistons JL chambers.I was able to get the battery and all the electronics under the seat. I fabricated rearsets that was a ton of work! Made a bunch of stuff on my CNC miller chain guard, fork brace rear tail light.

Nice job,

Those JL pipes looked to be tuned for a little more top versus others I have seen. Nice! Are those standard pipes from JL?

Still doing a little tuning but I'm super close idles nice pipes really fit great had to eliminate center stand (mounts) pipes sounds nice,so much different then my T500 with Higgspeed

Nice build.

No pic from the left side showing the pipe & sidestand.
I had cornering clearance problems on my GT380 build because of the sidestand. With that big diameter exhaust, you might have a similar problem.
If that’s the case, you might find my solution to be a good starting point.

I like the chain guard you made. Looks very cool!
You fitted a fork brace. Good idea. Did you make your own because you had trouble finding one that fits? I'd be interested to know how you got around the dust seal problem. Had a lot of head scratching when I tried the same on my 380. Eventually I made a set of Yamaha dust seals fit.

Thanks! Chain guard was fun used some 1/4 x6 aluminum angle the fork brace came out ok
Used the step where the rubber boots went purchase some triple seal fork seals and made some Delrin
Dust covers that go in counterbore. The rear taillight came out nice maybe post a few more shots.

Is Delrin a hard plastic? If soft, what grade is it called? I'd be interested in making my own alternative dust covers in future. It would be handy to know what methods and materials are possible. I was toying with the idea of liquid Polyurethane for dust seals if/when the current set I have fail.
