Re: Dang rear wheel removal
Sorry, not about removing the wheel........but you'll not raise the gearing going from 40 to 43, you'll lower it !

How much thread needs to be cut down on the rear axle? The nut and tool upgrade you recommended can be had at $12 cost for the pair from the dealer. I plan to buy a used axle too for the modification.

Re: Dang rear wheel removal
I’m not sure what difference the age of the thread makes. The bikes are way older.
If someone has something new to contribute to an old thread I think it’s of value to the forum.

Re: Dang rear wheel removal
Evans you cut the axle through the split pin holes and grind it flat so the split pin holes just disappear onto the new face of the axle end.
Two strokes, its just that simple.

Re: Dang rear wheel removal
Yes, I found your old post and actually cut mine yesterday. I bought a nice used straight rear axle for $15 off eBay and the new nut and wrench (local dealer) for less than $14. I will install when the rear wheel is off into to future. Thanks for the nice upgrade!
