Re: Exhaust port repair T250
Threads are too bad to hold the exhaust in place, on BMW's there are companies that machine down the head and fit threaded sleeves, I was just wondering if the same was available for Suzukis

Like a very large helicoil? Definitely needs a professional touch. I would guess you could build the casting up with weld and then tap it. But its beyond my skill set.
There are all kinds of engineering cement, but I doubt that would provide a permanent and strong grip and would ultimately almost certainly be a waste of time and effort.
Alan H recommended aluminium tape! Hmmm. I'd be interested to know if it has been tried and what the long term efficacy is.
Let us know how you get on.

Re: Exhaust port repair T250
i haven't got round to it yet - too busy with other projects - but i made a jig to hold the exhaust port dead horizontal so the threads could be milled off. can't remember the size, think standard is m48 x 1.5. anyway, the plan was to get some aluminium tube and thread it to this size, cut it to the right length and fit it over the exhaust port with 2 or 3 grub screws loctited in. that was the plan - if i ever get round to it i'll be in touch. if you just want a pair of barrels with good threads to get you up and running, i'm sure i could sort you some out for a small fee
cheers, dd.
