liquid gasket

Post by dyrberg123 »

Any recommendations on petrol resistant liquid gasket, what are you using out there?

I use to use yamabond but thats no longer available - then i switched to the silicone type, but found that those aren't petrol resistant, so now i am a bit confused :wth:
If it's not broken - don't fix it. Why not?

Hi dyrberg123,
I use Threebond 1104 on all my crankcases and any other gaskets that need a little extra help sealing. It is oil and petrol resistant and I've had no problems so far.

Regards,
Glyn.

Yamabond was made by Three bond. There are newer versions than 1104 but Three Bond is still the right stuff.

If you stroke it more than twice; you're playing with it.

Depends what your intending to seal. Seal All works very well on plastic. Can't speak for using it on metal.

1104 (and its predecessors ) is what I use on all my restorations. Has never failed me. A little goes a long way btw.

Hi, pretty important question i suppose.

I am sealing crankcase halfs here. Just ordered som treebond 1104 as suggested, so maybe this will do the trick

+1 with the Threebond 1104. I apply it to the crankcase mating surfaces, one side only, with a small paint brush. As reported, you don't need much.

Cheers Geoff

+1 on that.
I used it for my most recent crankcase closure (GT550B) and its been fine for its first 500 miles (then the good weather went :-( )

If you think Threebond is expensive, she's been lying to you about the cost of cosmetics :-) :-)
