fuel starvation problem back again...where to start?

and if there was some deposits in the bottom of the tiny shaft by the hole, that might explain also the bike running for only 3 seconds on choke right?

If there is anything in your floatbowls it WILL block your pilot jets and choke holes yes.

special thanks to those who helped with this - especially GTandCBR as he was really on the money about the choke. I cleared out those two shafts which the thin tubes sit in and put the carbs back. Fired up immediately and ran on the choke. I noticed that it doesn't run on number three but now i know why. (It doesn't have a choke like 1 and 2)
Anyway, will start to tune it now so it runs better but am so glad i have made headway

in fact, i spoke too soon. THis weekend i let it heat up on the choke and rode it around. It was only running on 1 and 2 so that was hard. Finally when i closed the choke i noticed that it wouldn't run. Killed it completely. I took out the plug on no 3 and cleaned it, before putting it back. On full choke it ran on all three and revved up quite quickly. But it won't run with no choke at all.
COuld it be my pilot jets blocked?
What makes no sense to me is that it will run on all three with choke on, when hot. But no 3 carb effectively has no choke, as many of you will know.
Confused and defeated.

Hi sorry been away from my PC for a week. Your pilot jets WILL be blocked and the bike wont run untill you remove and replace them. The reason the bike runs on choke is the choke enrichment circuit by passes the pilot system and puts gas direct into the belmouth of the carb.

Yes if you are very careful! But if you make a mistake the carb will be no good. If you do decide to drill buy a drill bit that works in reverse and use a reversible electric drill. Sometimes using this method the jet will unscrew out.

Had the same problem with the pilot jet on a T350.
Used a combination of drill bit & extractor. The drill bit is matched to the extractor and makes a hole just large enough for the extractor. Then turn the extractor by hand using a crescent wrench. Be careful — its possible to snap off an extractor which would give you a bigger problem.
If you don’t feel confident enough to do this, then you could take the carbs to a vintage bike shop & have them take the pilot jets out. They likely will think its no big deal because they run into this a lot.
