T350 vs T305 carbs on a 71 T350

Post by jabcb »

Have a 71 T350 with a good right carb & bad left carb. T350 carbs are stamped with 18630.
Have a T305 left carb that looks OK. T305 carb is stamped with 18210.

Question: can I used the T305 left carb on the 71 T350 if I use the correct T350 jetting, & etc.?

Thanks for the info.

Don’t know why, but it seems to be a lot easier to get a reasonably-good right T350 carb than a left one.
Unfortunately my right carb is fine & its the left one that’s problematic.

Thinking about it now, not sure how much it matter if you use two right carbs for example. You adjust idle speed with screw on top of cap not on the side like newer carbs (thus left and right). you can swap choke levers from master to slave vice versa.. You will have an extra or lack of a pulse tube for petcock but that could be worked out.

But again T305 will work too.

I just realized another issue for sticking round slide throttle on T3xx ... if the Idle adjust rod is bent it will bind.

I’ve seen badly bent idle adjust rods before. Idle adjust rods are still available & I am using new ones.

One other difference — the left carb has a vacuum tap for petcock.

I called it a pulse tube in my last reply... have an extra tube cap it (Add a boost bottle :) )
Yes I saw the rod is available and ordered some. Funny the little cotter pin was not.

You can order a lifetime supply of the cotter pins for just a few bucks at McMaster-Carr:

McMaster also sells JIS screws, stat-o-seal washers & lots of other useful items:

http://www.mcmaster.com/#stat-o-seal-washers/=1426bok

Shipping charges are reasonable — was about $5 last time I ordered a few items.
