Air Breather Pipe
He guys,
Just want to confirm there are no check valves in the GT750 air breather pipe. True? Thanks!

Re: Air Breather Pipe
Which breather pipe is that?
But any breather shouldn't have a valve in it.

Think of how stupid the average person is, then realise that half of them are more stupid than that.
Re: Air Breather Pipe
It's the only one on a GT75O to my knowledge. It's next to the water pump and keeps oil and water leaks from mixing.

Re: Air Breather Pipe
Are you talking about the little hole by the water-pump housing?

If you stroke it more than twice; you're playing with it.

Re: Air Breather Pipe
I believe that hole is actually a weep hole indicator to let you know when the upper water pump seal has failed. If oil comes our the upper seal is bad. If coolant comes out, the pump is leaky. The transmission vent is a tower right by the oil pump. When crank seals go bad, oil will come out the tower, and leak out from under the oil pump cover.

Re: Air Breather Pipe
Thanks Lane, but I'm not asking about the crankcase vent. And, yes the weep hole functions largely as you have indicated. But, I'm still trying to confirm the air breather pipe does not have check valves in it. My guess is that it doesn't but I don't like to guess on engines I'm not familiar with. If this were a Kawasaki triple I'd know the answer. Unfortunately, this is my first Suzuki triple build. Thanks, Chuck

Re: Air Breather Pipe
There are no check valves in that pipe. I just checked a couple and they are a simple banjo fitting. I did have one that showed signs of teh nylon tube deformed, so check it for free flow.
