New guy finishing gt380

Post by BeansWelds »

So I am pretty much finished with my gt380. It has seen about 200 miles since being put back together. I put nos crank bearings and seals in her and a power dynamo electronic ignition. Jemco 3-3s are ordered and on their way. Judging by the way the stock jetting is performing I can believe the folks that are running these pipes with stock jetting/stock air box. Can't wait for that! I do have a bit of a problem currently reving past 5500-6000 but, I'll get it worked out. I have been quietly using this forum for info along my journey and am thankful for the info. If anyone is in the Pittsburgh area let me know. I'd more than be happy to meet another two stroker. Thanks Ben.

Ben,
Sounds good, but please note if Suzuki was to be trusted, not to rev beyond 4000 for 1st 500miles and 5000 for the next 500miles, then let her rip!
I did run-in my rebuilt GT380B carefully and ten years later I feel I'm rewarded - its my nicest, most silent running GT :-)

Did you do the work yourself? How were the crank seals to change? I just set up my scrap pile 380 with a Power Dynamo and Jemcos. It looks like I have a bad something in the engine as my left cylinder fires half of the other two. Let us know where you end up jetting it once together. I'll be a few months over schedule now with a rebuild looming.

You mind sharing who worked on the crank? I'm in north Jersey so I'm not that close but better than sending it to California no doubt.

It was Mel Connor that did my crank. Just a guy I found from snowmobile adventures. He is just a retired guy in a shed and did the favor for me. So yeah, California. Sorry man.

For cranks I always use Bill Bune in Anoka Minnesota. He has lots of experience with Suzuki triples.

If you stroke it more than twice; you're playing with it.

Too many bikes, too much time, ENOUGH SPACE, FINALLY! Never enough money.........
