Re: GT750J over heating.....or is...it?
i cant figure out how to see a price or even order on the daytona site.
im looking here
https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss ... temp+gauge" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
but not sure what i should be looking for.
how does the gauge read the water temp? with a sending unit? will i have to make an adaptor?
i assume its not gonna just be a plug n play item.
whose got a product theyve used and trust? and details how to install.

my uncle suggested to check my hoses. he says 5lbs of pressure can collapse a weak hose. im not familiar with liquid cooled bikes so much, so dont know about certain things like collapsed hoses. they look fine, not rotted or leaking, didnt think about the internals.

Have you checked and flushed the radiator yet as suggested?
Liquid cooled bike engines work just like liquid cooled car/truck engines.

Think of how stupid the average person is, then realise that half of them are more stupid than that.

ive taken the radiator off and held it under a sink and it flowed out as fast as it flowed in. possible a couple flakes came out, but might have also been just much at the bottom of the utility sink

That one should work. It comes with an electric sender which screws in to the threaded hole in the thermostat housing in place of the stock sender. It may be a different size to stock and may require an adapter or you may get lucky. You could also try to fit it in place of the fan sensor in the upper part of the thermostat "cap". It could also be fitted into that in line housing that they supply, but that require you to cut the hose to fit it.
That looks like a great price. I want to say that we paid around $100 for a Scitsu and an older Daytona gauge that we used on our TZs.

I still think its the thermostat , if it doesnt close off the bypass the engine can over heat .
the older i get the faster i was

Re: GT750J over heating.....or is...it?
The thermostat that Suzuki used is unusual in that when it opens the main (top) hose to water flow, it closes the bypass hose off.
The theory is that if a normal thermostat is used, some water will just go round the block and pump and will not flow through the radiator and as such will not cool properly.

These bikes are so over cooled what difference would it make?

Re: GT750J over heating.....or is...it?
The thermostat in the GT750 is special to most other thermostats in that during cold startup it opens the bypass that is the small water line that goes between the carbs down to the case top . This bypass allows the coolant to warm up faster as it also is allowed to flow through the cylinder but not through the radiator . As the temp comes up the top of the thermostat begins to open allowing the now hot coolant to flow to the radiator and at the same time closes off the bypass so 100% of the coolant gets to the radiator . If for some reason the bypass does not close theory is .... even if the coolant is open to the radiator some will bypass the radiator and be drawn straight back down to the pump still hot and be pumped right back into the cylinder block still hot and run through again . This might be marginal at low RPMs but as the heat load is increased " could " cause overheating .. in theory . If you checked out the link i posted to the water cooling section it explains the function and shows pictures .

Try riding it without a thermostat ans see what it does.
