My phone crashed along with ALL of the reference photos I took of the 1973 GT550 I am putting back together this winter.
Fitting the cleaned up 3-4-4 OEM exhaust.
A little stuck. Basically do you screw the exhaust collar out far enough to put a donut gasket in the exhaust port and then mount it flush in the front?
Or do you mount from the back and make sure that end lines up before tackling the front? Seems like you could screw the exhaust collar in in such a way that the exhaust pipe would mount solid to the exhaust port--no donut needed. Or is this bad?
Def have an alignment issue on the throttle side cylinder. Suggestions welcome.
Thanks

Re: Fitting Exhaust?
Gasket goes in the port with little grease on back to hold it in place. Fit couplers into centre pipe with o rings and sealer already on. I tap them home with rubber hammer. Fit centre pipe make sure you leave the gap so the pipe remains flexible don't tighten yet. Hang outside pipes don't forget to put a washer between the hanger and the frame so it can move slightly when its done up. Push onto the coupler tighten slightly the collars. Then hang the inside pipes having slotted them on underneath and tightened the collars. There is a special triangle shaped rubber backed washer that fits between the outside and inside pipes on the hanger. Once its all in place I use a ratchet tie down across the entire width close to the couplers to pull it all together. Then tighten all the collars leaving the appropriate gap.
