I have read numerous posts here about the accepted ways to prime the oil lines. Most people say you need to have the engine running. At this moment in time, that is not possible. I hooked up my new (used) lines going from oil pump to jugs. On the other side of things, I am using 1/4" fuel tubing connected to the stock banjo fitting at the oil pump. On the other end of the fuel line, I have a large syringe fuel of two stroke oil. At first I tried to simply push some oil through with the syringe and that didn't seem to work. I then took a drill and chucked it up on the crankcase drive gear on the oil pump and ran the drill at medium speed (in the proper direction of course). Nothing! I even tried running the drill, pushing lever on pump to WOT and tried to push oil through the syringe at the same time. Nothing at all!
Any ideas?
It seems like the oil is not getting into the pump at all. I checked the banjo fitting on the end of my fuel line from the incoming end before the pump and I could blow through it before I connected it to oil pump, so I know the check valve is working.

I use a little hand oil pump to fill the lines between the pump & the motor.
There is a left-hand threaded bolt on the top of the pump that you can use to prime the pump.
It will take a while for the pump to prime, so be patient.
Be careful with the LEFT-HAND threaded bolt.

There is no check valve in the oil tank to oil pump line.
The pump is gravity fed from the oil tank, so be sure to keep the pump well below the tank.
Also be sure that oil actually flows out of the tank. No obstructions.
Remove the bleed screw (reverse thread, if I recall) on top of the pump to allow oil into the pump, and bleed it.
I have used the electric drill to drive the pump in the past, never had a problem. Usually hold the arm full throttle. I always need to kick the bike once or twice, to watch which way I'm supposed to run the drill.

Great thanks. I figured there must be a bleed valve, so I will try the left handed bolt to bleed some oil into pump.

Hi, I have the same problem.
I've bled the pump as suggested but still it doesn't pump lube. Its baffling.
I use an electric drill to turn the pump..

If its a barn find that has been sitting for ages, maybe the pump needs disassembled & cleaned.
The pump moves oil very slowly, on the order of a quart in several hundred miles of riding.
You can use the kickstarter to figure out which way the pump turns.
Forum member bloop2 sells rebuild kits via eBay that have the needed o-rings & oil seals. I just checked & he doesn’t have it currently listed, but somebody in Florida has a kit. The o-rings & oil seals are standard parts but some of them are a bit tedious to find.
