Put the engine back in the bike a couple of days ago, now I'm connecting the various bits.
Also put some lower bars on it as the "ape hangers" that were on it were just silly.
So now, the tach cable is about a foot too long!
That's assuming the simplest path is the correct routing: up from the tach drive on the right case, along the frame under the tank, between the right fork and the frame neck above the lower triple clamp and into the socket on the tach.
So my question is, am I routing it wrong or is it more likely that the tach cable is an after market longer one installed to accommodate those ridiculous bars?
Anybody got a stock cable they could give me a quick measurement on?

Re: GT550 tach cable routing
The high bars shouldn't effect tach/speedo cables unless meters were raised,most times it is clutch and throttle cables lengthened.other models have tach drive around oil pump that needs longer cable.my 750 cable is around 44 inches,the 550 should be around 35 inches I think.

Re: GT550 tach cable routing
Ah, thanks. I was standing there staring at it earlier and routed it inside the upper frame rail and back out just to tuck it in out of the way and it looked pretty decent.Cliff wrote:Pretty good pic in here where the tach cable goes: http://www.suzuki2strokes.com/forum/vie ... =2&t=11954" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
According to the picture you linked, it appears that that is the correct way anyway.
