X6 Fuel Petcock fuel flow

Post by aarron »

Why does fuel flow from one side of my X6 fuel petcock and not the other? I have completely cleaned the petcock to make sure there are no blockages anywhere, and it's extremely clean. If I pinch the fuel line that's running, it will force fuel to flow through the other side and they both run. Not sure what I'm missing here, I know it's got to be something simple, but I'm missing it. Any help/advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi!

It is the normal behavior of this petcock.
With the (empty) tubes fitted to the carbs the fuel will flow first to one carb until it's float valve is closed, then the other line will flow, too.
With tubes and petcock completely filled with fuel there will be flow immediately in both.

It is more of a coincidence which line runs first.
Bubbles and adhesion have an influence here, I think.

Thanks for the reply Marcus! That makes complete sense since I've been testing it with the tank on the bench, so no carbs we attached.

Thanks again for the reply.
