Hello. New to the forum. I am rebuilding my father in laws 1971 350 t rebel. I have several questions, starting with the most pressing. Does anyone know where I can get a carburetor body for this motorcycle? I have one good one but the other one has a broken float post.

Yes thank you. I've already talked to him. I need the left side carb. I have that one.

Carbs are tough to find. I'm fighting with both of mine on my 70 T350. I'm not sure of the differences, but there are several different P/Ns for the T350 carbs depending upon year. Also, you mention a "broken float post". My floats do not "ride" on posts but use a pivot pin. I think all the T350 carbs are built this way.

I have seen posts repaired on rare carbs.

If you have the broken piece, they can sometimes be drilled and pinned back in place with some fuel-resistant epoxy.

I do have the broken piece. But I don't know of anything that would be strong enough to deal with the fuel or vibrations. Was kinda hoping someone may have access to one on a parts bike or something.

I have seen new Mikuni carbs for sale. Not sure how they might differ from the originals but they look close without comparing them side by side. I think they are VM32's but not sure how hard the choke linkage would be to transfer over to the new carbs.

I've seen these on ebay too, left and right, but not sure how they differ from the originals.

I was having problems with the slides sticking in my T350 due to a combination of bent idle posts and possibly warped carb flanges. I replaced the carbs with rubber mikuni flange adapters and some PWK style flat slides. It really woke the bike up and solved all my issues in one step. I would highly suggest going in that direction if you aren't adamant on staying stock. New clean carbs can save you lots of time hunting gremlins in stock corroded carbs anyway.

If you really want to keep the bike stock, I can ask the guy I sold my T350 to if he still has the stock carbs. I believe mine was a '71 as well, so they should be the same. You would probably have to face the flange mounts, but that's not a big deal.

If you don’t find a solution, then search the Suzuki GS forum.
Seems pretty common for those bikes to have broken posts & some of the members have fixed them.
