Hello,
Hopefully someone will be able to help me here..I have a 1974 GT 750 with a SRIS union valve that broke off on the L cylinder that is located on the back (believe this was just for certain models) when I was trying to replace my oil lines. I ordered some new ones, but trying to figure out how to remove the valve seeing that is not screwed in, but rather pressed in? Any ideas?

For clarity - you are talking about the pressed in fitting on the underside of the inlet stub to the left cylinder ? They just twist out using a set of channel locks or something similar - and the pressed in fittings are not valves. Just spigots. The valves are in the lower front of that model of engine and are threaded fittings (assuming you have the right engine in your frame - 1972 engines were pressed in with a 7mm hex head) .

yes i am talking about the fitting on the lower L cylinder inlet stub, It must be a 72 engine then, because its not screwed in but rather pressed in. I will try to upload a picture to get a better idea of what I am talking about.

He meant that the fittings on the front of the engine were press-fit in 72. The rear mounted ones were all press-fit as fara as I know. I take the SRIS fittings out and replace (front and rear) with plugs (you have to tap the rear holes). SRIS was a nice idea that really wasn't very effective and certainly wasn't necessary.

As I said - the valves are at the front of the engine, and the fitting you are talking about is just a pressed in spigot. Find a pair of Channel lock pliers and twist it out. If you want to replace it, just PM me your details and I'll mail you one. I would like to keep the bike as stock as possible, I did give the channel lock pliers a shot. It was just not budge at all, maybe applying some heat first?

Maybe - if you can get a good grip, normally they come out quite easily. I admit it can be a bit awkward to access with the engine in the frame as the clearance above the starter cover is limited, but it can be done.gixxer947 wrote: maybe applying some heat first?
