OK,,,remember the T350 that won't rev past 4000..??
So today thinking that I might as well try anything at all.
I decide to drain the oil, so I undo all the 3 sump plugs and I get 250ml of oil out..in total...hmmm
I remember topping up the transmission not long ago as well...what's happening here.
Bike starts easily runs well wont rev out gets worse in every gear looks like its burning oil when trying to get that last 5 mph in top never happens.
Where is my transmission oil going could the engine be burning that!?

Re: OK,,,remember the T350 that won't rev past 4000..??
Shows three sump plugs + detent plug in my handbook?
I originally checked the transmission oil via the drip hole on the front and just topped it up so that oil came through, so assuming there was some in in the first place??
I've been no miles on this bike and only got 250ml out...strange...
I'm thinking that the oil seal from the transmission has failed and oil is seeping into the crankcase, but I doubt that this would lead to the power problems that I have?
Its there any way of knowing whether the sump is full of transmission oil at all or have I removed any of that by removing the three sump plugs?

Re: OK,,,remember the T350 that won't rev past 4000..??
Two of the three plugs you removed must be crankcase drains. Very little if any should come out of those. What comes out should be black and smelly.. If two were smaller, just below and slightly rearward of the crank shaft, those are not tranny drains. There should be only one. Large hex head on the flat area under the tranny.
You say you filled it to the drip hole. Fill it to there again and run it a while. Remove that plug and use a bent q-tip to determine how much is gone. If it ain't on the floor, your motor is using it.
Even at that though, I can't see how that would prevent it from running past 4K -- unless the seals are completely gone. A quick easy test is remove the airbox. Start the motor and run it approx. 1500 rpm. Put your fingers over the carb mouths. You should feel a strong suction at the carb mouths. Tweak the throttle a few times and see if the suction increases. If the suction is very weak or non existent, plan on a crank rebuild.

Just been out again and not surprisingly its the same but now has a full transmission.
I did notice though the Right Cylinder/exhaust is passing a lot of white smoke (oil) the left looks nice.
Any ideas?

Re: OK,,,remember the T350 that won't rev past 4000..??
If the engine sucked up 950 ml gear oil in a just few miles I would strongly suspect that is the issue. If you try to get after it and all it does is look like a crop duster behind you that is the problems. Also didn't you say you changed the plugs and for a brief moment it ran as it should?
As stated this is a common problem (has been for me more than a few times) for the center seals to pass crankcase oil. The gear oil is pushed under pressure via one of the gear cogs. Sometimes only one is leaky more so than another
The right crank seal behind the PTO gear could be bad as well and that would pull in gear oil.
If you don't feel like rebuilding the crank (your bike is nice, worth time and money to go through crank) here is possible patch if the seals are not bad just dried
add to this crank case oil http://store.gobluedevil.com/oil-stop-leak-faq/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.
I have not tried (well I did but seal was broke not tried) this but I have experimented with it on old seals. Told someone else here and they said it work for him on his Gt250 or T350 maybe about a year ago there was a post I responded to.

Re: OK,,,remember the T350 that won't rev past 4000..??
There are 2 gearbox oil drain plugs on the 350. The central 1 drains the gearbox and right side one drains the clutch case. Both take a 21mm spanner.
As I said in my previous post the crankshaft seals are probably to blame for the performance issue and with the reported loss of gearbox oil almost certainly the centre crank seals are gone and probably the outer crank seals as well.

Re: OK,,,remember the T350 that won't rev past 4000..??
Hey joethebike. I'm not at all familiar with this model. Does it have crankcase drains?. I know the T500 does as I can see them on the crankcase fiche. I'm just wondering if it's possible that his crankcase has large puddles of oil in it? I think all these piston port induction engines should have drains. My 550 doesn't have drains per say, but the SRIS double as drains.. Now that I have eliminated the SRIS, I have 3 crankcase drains
Wouldn't it be nifty if I could put 3 little spigots on them

Re: OK,,,remember the T350 that won't rev past 4000..??
I know this is an old post, but am confused over the number of drain plugs on a T350. My owners manual shows 3, but the third one is the detent plug from what little I know. The diagram in the manual clearly shows that as a drain plug, but why is that? Thanks.

The detent plug is for the gear shift mechanism.

But why would they show that as a drain plug in the owners manual? If you loosen it, will it drain oil that the other 2 don't?

Re: OK,,,remember the T350 that won't rev past 4000..??
You should leave the detent plug alone. Its not necessary to get every last drop of oil out.
The T350J owners manual has a pic that shows the 3 bolts. Arrows point to the two bolts you remove to drain the oil.

Appreciate the input. Will just drain the two plugs.
