help with crankcase issue. Cracked?

Post by sbaugz »

Can you guys take a look at these pictures and let me know what you think? I put my crankcase halves back together and lined up all the little pins for the bearings. Cranked her tight using the torque settings and order of the bolt pattern. I was cleaning all the honda bond gasket material that leaked out from crankcase halves and noticed something troubling. On the right side of the crankcase (at the clutch side), I noticed a little piece of the crankcase that was cracked. I flicked it with my thumb and a little piece of metal material came off, exposing a shiny metal pin of some sort. Please refer to the pictures below. Its located just below where the right side of transmission assembly exits the right side of crankcase. Is this something I should worry about? Will this shiny pin that is now exposed drop out? On each of the pictures seen below, the area in question is directly in the center of the photo. Each photo progressively zooms in more.

It probably won't fall out as it is press fitted, BUT I'd add a nice glob of JB Weld to make sure.

If you stroke it more than twice; you're playing with it.

Too many bikes, too much time, ENOUGH SPACE, FINALLY! Never enough money.........

I thought about that but I'd hate to have the jb weld come off and float around in there. I wonder if welding a little blob right there would be better?
