hi guys, pulling my hair out here, have an issue with rh cylinder on cold choke starting, will not fire untill choke eased off, then gradually clears and all ok,dosnt miss a beat when warm, have pulled carb of so many times i can do it blindfolded, definitly no blockage in cold start jet and passages, can blow air thru everything, could a crank seal be causing this ,dosnt run lean at all when riding, when i remove plug after trying choke start it appears to be wet so is getting fuel from somewhere, could float level cause this problem, any help appreciated, just about ready to live with it
thanks dennis

Re: gt750j cold start
Dennis,
Annoying for you. This issue is more often found on the linked-carb GT380 and 550. Can be maddening. I wonder, while you've check the starter jet and passageways, did you also closely examine the 'cold start straw'? a brass tube which sits in the starter well and has a pair or two pairs of tiny horizontal drillings? if these are part blocked it will make it far too rich. Also, if fuel height is too high, ditto (I think). I doubt crank seals would allow it to idle well, hot, yet not fire up on choke, cold.
Good luck,
Mike

Re: gt750j cold start
YES,YES,YES,finally after 2 years she fires up like its supposed to,,looks like all its been all this time is to high float level allowing no air to enter holes in choke straw, for nsomething so simple its taken a long time to find,im stoked
thanks for your help dennis

Re: gt750j cold start
Result! thanks for the sharing. So, you raised the float, lowering the fuel height a tad?
Cheers,
Mike
