couple of crankcase questions

Post by sbaugz »

Well, i dove off the deep end and split my crankcase. Wasn't that difficult.

Couple of questions.

There are several pins that are located along all the main bearings for the transmission, crank and kickstarter shaft. Some are small and some are large. A few of them came out really easily. There are about 6 left that I cannot get to move or turn at all. I want to send the crankcase off for vapor blasting and I don't want to lose those in the process. Any tricks to getting them out?

Second question- at the crank, I found one C-ring on the right side of the crank that fits between the big end bearing and the lower crankcase. Its about a 1/4 circle. There was only one. The left hand side doesn't have any C-rings at all. Is this correct? Should there only by 1/4 circle c-ring on the right side of crank bearing and none on the left?

All I know about a T500 would fit on the back of a postage stamp, but a lot of times you can get the info you need by simply looking at the fiche. http://WWW.alphasports.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Per the parts book, one "C Ring" 09390-80001.

As for the pins, you could always try applying some heat. Case is aluminum, pin is (likely) steel.

Shouldn't the C ring be a half circle?

If they're in there that tight I'd just leave them in there, and make a note (or photo) of where and how many, and word-up the Blaster to keep track of them. Can't be that hard eh?

Yes. It is just a key for side/side placement of the crankshaft.

The "c" piece that lines up the crank is only a 1/4 circle

Yes, that's about right. It fits in the crankcase half, with room still avail at both ends.
