In the UK very good RG500s (Engine & Chassis) have been in £10 - £12k region (phew). For a machine that requires work you could easily spend £5k +++++ to bring it to that standard, whatever you started with. A rough guess for the bike you are looking at, £5k minimum, and that would probably be considered a good deal. RG500s aren't going to go down in price anytime soon but a full restoration, while very satisfying, will take a lot of financial commitment. Good luck though, I'd love one in my garage.

Cheers Geoff

I've had my ear to the ground on a couple rg5's. Here in the states they always command a decent price. Title and running they seem to be going for ~$15k. More or less depending on condition. Plastics/decals are obtainable, but like Zun said - a full resto will leave you broke as a joke.

Have any photos of the potential pick?

No title opens the door to low ball offers! Wise choice though, I would have passed as well

Picked up a rg250 titled, complete, non running, but just needing minor work for less than half that. Seller knew he had me hook, line and sinker. I about passed on it, but after doing a bit more searching for another 250 or 5 - I came crawling back haha. Couldn't be happier and still haven't kicked her over for the first time
