I've had a snow blower for quite a few years.
After a few years of leaving gas in it over the summer, the carb jets got so plugged up it wouldn't start.

I now fill the gas up + add Stabil in the spring & then run it for a while to get the Stabil in the carb.
For this recent winter season, it started on the first attempt.
Started using Stabil something like 8 years ago & haven't had any starting problems since then.

+1 also a convert. Its 'supposed' to work and as far as I can tell as I've not had any over wintering problems it probably does do what it says on the bottle!

Hi,never used it myself,but have used oil additives in my car over the years that have worked,quieter running,better fuel consumption etc. I am a bit reluctant to put anything in the petrol tank of a two stroke for fear of mucking up the lubrication side of things,but from what's been said looks like this is not an issue

Start the bike and allow the additive to cycle through the carbs. Otherwise, the old gas without it. Has a chance to gum up inside the carbs.

If it's me. Six months or less doesn't get any treatment. I remove and clean my carbs every couple of years anyhow. I'd say if you're gonna let the bike set for over 6 months. Drain all fuel. Less than 6 or you're not a guy to remove and clean carbs that often. Add the Sta-bil.

You're welcome. If you have a Big Lots nearby. Stop by every now and again. They usually have it on stock for an outstanding price. I bought 2 full size bottles less than a year ago. For $2.50 a piece. Most competitors sell it for roughly $5 a bottle. That cheap, had to grab a couple. As far as carbs, it's best to drain fuel. Most carbs have a drain bolt at bottom of bowls to avoid having to remove the complete assembly. But, I like to keep my tanks completely full to help avoid rust. Those that aren't sealed. But, my understanding. A tank that is full of fuel can still be subject to rust. Just not as easily. It's never a bad idea adding the Stabil. They say ethonal based fuels only have a shelf life of about 120 days. In years past, gas had a much longer shelf life. Approximately a year. Today's gas absorbs a lot of water. I've never had a problem storing it for 6 months without stabil. But, it's wiser to use the stabil with ethanol treatment over 6 months I'd have to say.

It is a little bit of work, but to keep my tank full of fresh fuel, this is what I did this winter. My bike is parked next to my snow blower in the garage. When the gas can for refilling the snow blower gets low, I refill it from my bike. I have a gas line to attach to my petcock, which is long enough to reach the 2 gal gas can. I then take my empty 2nd gas can to the station, buy fresh gas, and refill the bike.
