Even if your petcock is leaking, the float needles in the carb shoud shut it off and keep the fuel from flowing. Have you replaced those lately? Another possibility is a sunken float. Worth a look see. Make sure your vacuum line is not split. Position the lever in the run position and pull off the fuel line. If fuel continues to run from the tank, your petcock needs to be rebuilt or replaced.

Bought a rebuild kit for the carb's a couple months ago. The petcock is a NOS one from bike bandit not even a year old. My tank is extremely rusty and clogs the petcock up easily.. Could be the root of my problems

I use a stuff called Phosphoric Plus made by Klean Strip. About $15.00 a gallon at Home Depot. Doing a tank right now. Works great.

All great working rust removers .. anyways you get the thought .. clean out your tank as those small rust bits get down into your petcock and carbs creating all kinds of running problems .

Testing out Electrolysis on an old dirt bike tank. If it works good I'm going to do it on the Titan. It's the cheapest easiest method I could find, and everybody seems to get good results from it, so hopefully I do too

Yep - I've used it a couple of times. I plan to try molasses next time as I've heard that works well also

The NOVA 6-speed has been in the pipeline for a number of years it would be nice to see it reach production. If they want someone to test it I'd be up for the job

About 20 years ago I sent this six speed box to Nova for some work to be done to it,
After a lot of telephone calls over several months i was told nothing could be done,
But they could make me a new one for £1200.

I think the "new" NOVA 6-speed is likely to be in the region of £3k. I'd like one for the Seeley T500 but you have to ask how much of an advantage it would bring. I'm using a std. box but with a higher 1st gear fitted and it performs pretty well.

Not necessarily.
It usually means that fuel is passing the float valve.
Whether this is because of a faulty/dirty valve/seat/needle or float is to be worked on!
If the fuel tap is the 3 position, on/res/prime type, then there is a tap issue if the tap isn't in 'Prime' when it leaks, but see to the carbs first.

No. It means you have rust particles in your needle valve seat or the needle is no good. If you had a vacuum leak. The bike would stall out and shut off often. Due to not enough gas being drawn from the petcock. The cylinder that is leaking back into your carbs intake. Is the carb that has a seat clogged or bad needle. That cylinder is flooded with gas due to gas not being shut off. I would change your crank oil after you fix it. Along with sealing your gas tank. At the very least, put an inline filter on. Double check the horizontal hoses that link the carbs together. They will leak also. Due to old hoses or poorly clamped. Find out exactly where the leak is coming from. If it's the intake, refer to seat and needle. I think a six speed is a bad idea. Simply because these bikes don't generate enough power. Changing your sprocket gearing will yield the same results comparing a 5 to 6 speed transmission. You need a motor that produces enough power for a 6 speed to be worthy.
