Part # and Avail.

Post by Coyote »

On my old throttle cable there is a boot on the cable at the oil pump. Covers the exposed threads of the adjuster. My new cable does not have this boot. I can't seem to find it on the fiche. I thought #19 was it, but it says K model only. I can't use the old boot as it is trash. Dry rotted, split and falling apart. Look at #19 on your favorite fiche site. It;s under handlebar control cable. Is that the part I need? Alpha sports does not list #19 but Partzilla does and says it's available. I don't know where else to look.
I was born with nothing and still have most of it left.

There wasn't one on my 550K and it works fine. I would think that any company that makes cables would have the part you need.
Think of how stupid the average person is, then realise that half of them are more stupid than that.

I'll look in a few days to verify, but I don't think either of my GT550M have a boot on the oil pump cable.

Oh....That boot. I don't know what the hell I was thinking. My bikes all have it. I'll look to see if I have an NOS one. Might even be the same part as on a Kawi Triple carb top

That boot fits dozens of models too, including some outboards.

Are we talking about the same boot? I'm talking about the boot where the oil pump cable enters the mount.

I have a few of those boots that I can take off of some NOS throttle cables that are for a TS model. PM your mailing address and I'll get you a couple. If they work out for you, you can buy me a beer if I ever get out to OK to visit my Aunt and Uncle

Yes...same boot fits dozens of bikes. Punch the part number into Partzilla and be ready to scroll through a long list.

I'm really surprised the new cable didn't have that boot on it. The strange thing is the cable that splits off and goes to the pump is much lighter gauge and smaller in diameter than a regular cable. So the hole in the boot is kind of a special. Smaller entry hole as opposed to say a clutch cable.

Oil pump cable is a lighter gauge than the other cables. No real tension on it. Oh, and I figured out where I brain farted on the boot...Kawi triple oil pump cables do not have the boot.

Let me know if you want the boots I have.
