Got the seal replaced today and it seems like everything went off without a hitch. I did notice that my clutch push rod is a little pitted, so I imagine there is a chance I might get some slight seepage from that, but otherwise it looks like it should be perfect. Hopefully I find a nice dry floor tomorrow...

Great, I noticed my push rod would not move easily after I fitted the new seal, I expect yours will be fine too...good luck

If the portion of the push rod that runs through the seal is pitted it could quickly eat up the new seal .
the older i get the faster i was

I imagine you are probably correct, Suzukidave. When I was doing research for the seal replace I saw someone mention that you can turn the rod around as long as both sides are flat (this was for a different bike though). Like Ohisashiburi, I was a little weary to remove the rod, so that isn't much of an option. But, I planned ahead this time and bought two seals! So, if this one starts to leak, I will revisit the rod and see what I can do.

I am happy to report that I've had no drips since, though my bike has just been sitting, so no clutch movement to provoke it yet...

Thanks to all for the help.
