A few minutes of unplugging and unsoldering cleared away weeks of spare time wiring work

Re: Here i go again ..
Dave, is that to start again or are you trying carbs first to get the rest of the package squared away?
BTW, what fuel pressure were you planning on running and what sized injectors? I was out on the Russ Collins RC Engineering website and entered some data and it suggested that we need 450-520cc/min flow rates. The biggest injectors RC sells for bikes are only 450cc at 43.5 PSIG. What size are the R1's?
P.S. I should let you know that I plugged in a fairly "substantial" target HP number

Re: Here i go again ..
Thanks for the interest Richard but its looking like i am going to set it up with carbs and leave it that way , the system is just more complex than i can deal with , this is a expensive box of extras i know
I dont recall now what the flow rates are for these R1 injectors .

at this time. That may change after you have run it for a while and decide that more HP is never enoughSuzukidave wrote:..........the system is just more complex than i can deal with ....

Re: Here i go again ..
Dave,
I think its great that you are taking this approach. The concept of fitting the GT motor into this chassis is a challenge in and of itself. This bike is going to catch a lot of attention.
Keep posting.....always love to see pictures of your progress.
BTW, Nice job on the coolant outlet. What did you use to fabricate that? Looks like the bypass line is a banjo fitting. Thats a creative solution to route the flow. Nice.
I also noticed the 3 straight up plugs....very nice. Let me know how you like that setup.

Re: Here i go again ..
I had missed that little detail. What's going on with the thermostat housing? Rotated through 90 degrees. IS that plate an adapter to facilitate the rotation to match the new radiator? I may just have to copy those ideas.

Re: Here i go again ..
I had tried to get back started on the project several times sense i brought it up from Florida but the mass of wiring that hadn't been finished was just over whelming for me , stripping it back down to the basic harness makes it do able now and my day off yesterday gave me time to get a good start on adapting the stock GT750 harness to fit the smaller GSXR frame and doing away with the plug in arrangement normally behind the side cover . Yep .. running a squish head so the straight up plugs and that also sure makes it easier to get at and R&R those end plugs . The thermostat housing had to be turned 90 degs so i had made up a plate to mount the the stock mount and then a Honda Sabre outlet fastened in place . I have to pick up a set of carb mounts and coils .

Re: Here i go again ..
What carbs are you using now and do you need a set of stock coils or decent coils. I can send a set of good stock coils if you need them. If you need a spare harness let me know.

Re: Here i go again ..
Thanx for the kind offers Richard .. the 34mm ~ 440 D slide carbs i grabbed up yrs ago i happened to bring with me so i will fit those up , i remember you saying they could give me issues rejetting though , i will need a set of coils ( i can trade a set of Dyna green coils ) and i picked up off ebay a good 75 GT750 wiring harness.
I have already removed the aluminum wedge intake adapters as they tip up the standard carbs too much so i am on the lookout now for intakes that will bolt up to the A-C reed boxes and also fit the 34mm carbs .. maybe some stock 440 pieces will work ?

Re: Here i go again ..
Also added to the list is a more stock GT iggy system , i had cut down the points side and have a 32-1 trigger wheel in there but without the MS controller i am going to have to look into something else .. maybe look again at the Power Dyanamo system so it will all fit in the alternator side http://www.powerdynamo.biz/eng/systems/ ... 28inst.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; .

Re: Here i go again ..
I'll box up some coils and main harness and get them out tomorrow morning.
What ignition are you using and does it use stock coils or is it some fancy electronic system that uses low inductance coils and are you firing it the stock once per coil per revolution or something else? I missed your second post while I was out digging up old wiring.
If you need a stock side cover and points cam etc I have one or more of those at least to get it running. Q. Can you use that trigger wheel and pick up and use the MS just to drive the ignition and if so what sort of coils do you need? An alternative is an MSD box driving two coils or maybe Accent or other electronic iggy. I have a ver. 75 Ignitech that uses a 3+1 lobe cam and has a fully programmable curve plus shift light trigger. Lots of choices, but if you want to start with stock, I can put that plus cover and shaft etc in a box later today. Look at those options and think about ways to keep it narrow.
Are the carbs fixed needle jet and curved slide type 34mm TMX? If so we need thicker needles. Mine have Q-8 in them IIRC which is too large. Try a set of 6GL64-64 needles to start with.
Those fit straight into an early J type carb mount.
as long as the left one is 10mm higher than stock to clear the clutch cover. The throttle cables off a J/K will work but I seem to recall teh inner had to be shortened.

I missed your second post while I was out digging up old wiring. I am not sure yet i am sure it will depend on the iggy system if its a add on CDI .. i do have a boxed up Newtronic here
If you need a stock side cover and points cam etc I have one or more of those at least to get it running. Q. Can you use that trigger wheel and pick up and use the MS just to drive the ignition and if so what sort of coils do you need? The coils i had mounted up before i believe needs a CDI to drive them and i dont want to add the wiring of the MS back onto the bike An alternative is an MSD box driving two coils or maybe Accent or other electronic iggy. I have a ver. 75 Ignitech that uses a 3+1 lobe cam and has a fully programmable curve plus shift light trigger. Getting a Power Dyanamo system would be nice in everything would be under the alt cover

I havent even opened those A-C 440 carbs sense we talked about them years ago but i seem to remember you saying the needle jet was fixed
Those fit straight into an early J type carb mount.

Re: Here i go again ..
Newtronics is probably the easiest option and you can eliminate a lot of their wiring if you wire it yourself. The harness they ship with is really long. You can also wire it to use stock connector blocks (or replacements at least) for a tidy install.

Re: Here i go again ..
Problem with that option is i would have to put a stock points side cover back on the engine , with the block centered in the frame it puts that side even more out so with what i have cut off the points side cover it balances the engine width .. problems , problemstz375 wrote:Newtronics is probably the easiest option and you can eliminate a lot of their wiring if you wire it yourself.
