Strader Exhaust Baffle
New to this forum I've recently picked up a Strader exhaust that needs some TLC before I put it back on. The PO appears to have modified the baffle or used another pipe baffle in the exhaust (I'll post a pick tonight). I have done a search and seen a pic of the baffle in the pipe with the end cap (washer) and snap ring out. Does anyone have a picture of the strader baffler removed from the pipe? I might have to have this fabricated.,,

Re: Strader Exhaust Baffle
Strader manufactured at least 2 designs of baffle that we know about and form what we know, the early design is noisy and saps power. One of our members had a new Strader with the later design of baffle with multiple tubes and I'm hoping to see a dyno run of that soon to see how much better it is.
Mine has an early design which I cut off and am now working on retrofit #2 with a larger diameter tail pipe and outer pipe to see if I can take more of the sting out of it.
Ian Sandy (Oldjapanesebikes) hosts the amazing database of GT750 stuff and he has some pictures of Straders over there. http://www.oldjapanesebikes.com/GT750_f ... -A55#pipes" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
When you get a chance, please link to a picture of yours. Photobucket is probably the easiest to link to

this baffle stuck out the end of the pipe and was fastened using a screw.
looks very restrictive and not right... the pipe needs to be rechromed but is in good shape and I would like to have it on the bike.

Re: Strader Exhaust Baffle
That looks as if it has been repaired/modified. Here's mine

They make a great sound but are a little restrictive. Check inside the end pipe and see if it is open or closed off like mine.

Re: Strader Exhaust Baffle
thanks tz375. i cut managed to separate piece that was tacked on and most of the original baffle is there.
what are your thoughts on simply running a perf pipe w/ packing through the end tube like w/ jemcos? insufficient back pressure? noisier?

But I also removed the closed end of the tailpipe

Please do. I much prefer to "read" pictures than words.
