Did the original 750 oil drain plugs have crush washers ?
I have what I believe is the original oil drain bolt on my 750. It has no washers of any kind. I notice every now and again it drips some oil around the bolt. If I give it a little snug it stops. But, sooner or later it's gonna strip if I don't replace it with one with a crush washer. Did the original bolts come with one ? Stupid topic, I know. Lol ! Was just curious, being that all the supposed Suzuki ones on Ebay don't appear to have them either.

It's 09168-14004 Gasket and IIRC they look like a spark plug washer. Replace with an Aluminum or soft copper washer.

#09168-14004 gasket Go to Alpha Sports and have a look at the crankcase. They call it a gasket because it is not made like a regular washer. I think it's made more like a spark plug crush washer, but I'm not certain on that. Bottom line is yes. There is supposed to be washer/gasket there.
I was born with nothing and still have most of it left.

Ordered one off Ebay for 3 bucks. Like Richard said, it looks exactly like the crush washers that go around the spark plugs. I'll have to check out Ace Hardware sometime also. The nearest one, is about 30 miles away.

Yeah, you're correct about Ace having a good selection of stainless stuff. Well, let's say more than Home Depot, Lowes, etc. But, that's not saying much. But, Ace Hardware's fasteners are not very reasonable. I made that trip a couple of times when I was restoring my Buffalo. Until, I found these guys. Dirt cheap stainless fasteners, extremely large selection. The other hardware stores mentioned above are about worthless for guys like us. Cool thing about the Albany County Fasteners site. If you make an account. You can add fasteners to your cart over a length of time, it will save that cart and just order the total when you're ready. Most sites, for most businesses don't have that ability. Most sites, you lose your cart information. Unless, you order before logging off your computer. http://www.albanycountyfasteners.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;Suzukidave wrote:Yeah .. thats a bit away all right but if you ever happen by one ( Ace Hardware ) take a list of washers , nuts and screws you would like in Stainless steel as many have a very good selection of Stainless .

Re: Did the original 750 oil drain plugs have crush washers
Harbor Freight recently started selling plastic job boxes of copper washers, nitrile o-rings, circlips. split pins, R clips, rubber grommets and other various other small items. While the copper washers are not metric most can be adjusted on their ID to fit their closest metric equivalent.
On the GT750m the oil drain bolts washer is also used as the gasket on the bypass hose union joint where it meets the crankcase top.

Two strokes, its just that simple.

Re: Did the original 750 oil drain plugs have crush washers
This is true, they have a lot of things in stainless. But, they are sure proud of it. I could have bought 6 of the same nuts from McMaster Carr for the price of one at Ace. There is an Ace just a mile from me, so I reluctantly pay through the nose for stuff I need NOW.Suzukidave wrote:Yeah .. thats a bit away all right but if you ever happen by one ( Ace Hardware ) take a list of washers , nuts and screws you would like in Stainless steel as many have a very good selection of Stainless .

I'd be surprised, if Harbor Freight doesn't now sell the metric copper washers. Like you mentioned, they have a huge assortment of metric nitrile o-rings. I'll have to check that out, when I make my next trip there.Suzsmokeyallan wrote:Harbor Freight recently started selling plastic job boxes of copper washers, nitrile o-rings, circlips. split pins, R clips, rubber grommets and other various other small items.
